Add to a movie listThe Perfect Circle (Bosnian: Savršeni krug) is a 1997 Bosnian film by Ademir Kenović set in Sarajevo during the siege of 1992-1996. It was written by Kenović with Pjer Žalica and the famous Bosnian poet Abdulah Sidran. The set designer was Kemal Hrustanović. The title derives from the ability of "Hamza" (played by Mustafa Nadarević) to draw perfect circles on paper.
Synopsis
A Bosnian poet (Hamza) lived with his family in Sarajevo during the hard times in the horrific siege of the city. The war in Bosnia was raging all around them. After sending his wife (Gospoda) and daughter (Miranda) to Croatia, he found at home two orphans Adis and Kerim, who escaped a massacre in their own village. They escaped from their village and came to Sarajevo in search of their aunt, which lived in the neighborhood called Bistrik. Hamza decided to help the boys by shielding them from the horrors of war. Together they fight for survival in this horrible war and the ongoing complete siege of the city. After a long search, Hamza discovers that the aunt of Adis and Kerim was a refugee in Germany. Upon learning this Hamza tries to save the kids by sending them out of the war zone. But the only way out was through the Sarajevo International Airport, which is a very dangerous passage occupied and monitored by Chetniks and their death squads as well as snipers.Actors

Based on a novel by Branko Ćopić and set during World War II, the film tells the story of a Serbian village in the mountains of Bosnia and its villagers who found themselves divided along two opposing ideological lines, represented by the Chetniks and the Partisans. These two opposing sides are personified in the Partisan commander Španac (Mustafa Nadarević) and a former Royal Army officer Radekić (Branislav Lečić). Španac sees Radekić as the cause of villagers' resistance to the new, Communist, ideology and so the main plot axis is the conflict between them.

In 1977, fifteen years before the Bosnian War ravaged their lives, Halima’s (Alma Prica) niece Safija (Olga Pakalović) became pregnant by Slavomir (Mijo Jurišić), a Serb man. Beaten and ostracized by her Bosniak family, Safija gave the infant boy to the childless Halima to raise, telling Slavomir it was stillborn. Twenty-three years later, the devastating war has ended. Bodies are being identified through DNA samples and returned to families for burial. Halima’s husband is found, but the boy cannot be returned to her without a blood sample. And that would have to come from Safija who ran away years ago and married Slavomir. When Halima finally locates her, Safija refuses the blood test because she is afraid her husband will discover her deception. And other deceptions could be uncovered as well, including the shocking identity of the soldier who took Halima’s husband and the boy to their deaths.

Two wounded soldiers, a Bosniak (Čiki, portrayed by Branko Đurić) and a Bosnian Serb (Nino, portrayed by Rene Bitorajac) are caught between their lines in the no man's land, in a struggle for survival. The two soldiers confront each other in a trench, where they wait for dark. They trade insults and even find some common ground. Confounding the situation is another wounded Bosniak soldier (Cera, portrayed by Filip Šovagović) who wakes from unconsciousness. A land mine had been buried beneath him by the Bosnian Serbs; should he make any move, it would be fatal.

The movie opens in June 1950 with a local neighbourhood drunk Čika Franjo serenading field workers. The movie starts in 1492, in Spain. Jews are being chased everywhere. They have two choices: either to convert or to face trial and execution. Isabel (Katherine Borowitz), and Clara (Tara Fitzgerald) are growing up with terror. Although forcibly baptized, the sisters are chased through Christendom until they arrive in Venice. In Venice, Isabel organizes a secret passage in order to give refuge to the refugees who were fleeing away in the fear of the Inquisition. Isabel decides that, in order to be safe, her family must flee to Istanbul, the only place where Jews are not hated. But Clara refuses to leave, because she is in love with a Venetian named Paulo Zane (John Turturro). When Isabel somewhat tries to force Clara to move to Istanbul, Clara gets furious at the former and is almost ready to break all family ties with Isabel. In these battles of misunderstandings, Clara's young daughter Victoria (Hannah Taylor-Gordon) is trapped, who finds that she is about to be married into the same faith that murdered her own father.

In December, 1941, a squadron of PT Boats under the command of Lt. John "Brick" Brickley (Robert Montgomery) is sent to Manila to help defend the Philippines against a potential Japanese invasion.
