Synopsis
Deux copains décident de profiter des vacances, de l'été pour aller faire une virée en voiture. Avec leur 8000 couronnes, ils dénichent une Mazda 626 coupé 1600 qu'ils transforment en cabriolet décoré de plaques françaises pour que la police leur fiche la paix. Et les voilà partis au hasard: vers l'est, vers l'ouest: peu importe la campagne est très jolie des deux côtés et comme le dit la chanson «Nous trouverons un endroit où on fume à l'aise, où le soleil ne chauffe pas trop les bouteilles, où le vent disperse autour de nous des crottes d'oiseaux, où on peut goûter ce qu'on préfère et regarder tranquillement si quelqu'un arrive, quelqu'un qui sait que nous sommes assis là et qui dira "Salut les gars"»Actors

In 1950, during the Cold War, František (Franta) Sláma (Ondřej Vetchý) is incarcerated in Czechoslovakia, because of his prior service in the RAF. His recollections of the war begin in 1939, just days prior to the German invasion of Czechoslovakia. After the invasion, the Czechoslovakian military is disbanded and has to give up its aircraft. However, young pilots Franta and his friend Karel Vojtíšek (Kryštof Hádek), among others, refuse to submit to their occupiers and flee to the United Kingdom to join the RAF.

Réda (Nicolas Cazalé) is a French-Moroccan teenager due to sit for Baccalauréat. When his devout father (played by Mohamed Majd) asks Réda to accompany him on a pilgrimage to Mecca, he reluctantly agrees. However, the father insists that they travel by car. As both embark on a road trip thousands of kilometres away from southern France, the once-icy father-and-son relationship starts to thaw as both gradually come to know each other. Réda speaks only in French to his father, who is seen speaking only Arabic for the majority of the film. Later, when necessary, the father proves that he in fact speaks impeccable French; his choice to speak only Arabic to his son is therefore purposeful.

A news report is broadcast informing the world that a mission to stop an incoming asteroid from destroying life on earth has failed and that it will make impact in three weeks time.
