Synopsis
Le détective de la police d'Oslo Harry Hole n'est plus que l'ombre de lui-même. Alcoolique, il cherche un but à sa carrière. C'est alors qu'il rencontre une nouvelle recrue, Katrine Bratt, fraichement mutée de Bergen. Elle enquête sur la disparition d'une femme mariée et mère d'une petite fille, dont l'écharpe est trouvée enveloppée autour d'un bonhomme de neige sinistre. Harry Hole, qui a par ailleurs reçu une mystérieuse lettre ornée d'un bonhomme de neige, s'intéresse aux investigations de Katrine. Katrine et Harry vont alors découvrir que plusieurs femmes ont disparu dans des circonstances similaires.Actors

Oskar, a meek 12-year-old boy, resides with his mother Yvonne in the western Stockholm suburb of Blackeberg in 1981 and occasionally visits his father Erik in the countryside. It is not clear why Erik is living apart from Yvonne, but on one such visit, when Oskar and Erik are enjoying a cosy night playing games, a drunken neighbour arrives and Erik starts to drink heavily with him, breaking up the cosy father/son evening. Unsuccessful entrepreneur Percy Nilegård organizes a bus trip for lonely Swedish men to Estonia, where Nilegård's Estonian business partner Lembit Metsik has gathered Estonian women interested in meeting Swedish men. During the early 1970s, FBI agent Ray Levoi is assigned to aid in the investigation of a political murder; that of Leo Fast Elk (Allan R.J. Joseph), on a Native American reservation in South Dakota.
