The St. Valentine's Day Massacre is a 1967 gangster film based on the 1929 Chicago mass murder of seven members of the Northside Gang (led by George "Bugs" Moran) on orders from Al Capone. It was directed by Roger Corman and written by Howard Browne.

The film starred Jason Robards as Al Capone, George Segal as Peter Gusenberg, David Canary as Frank Gusenberg and Ralph Meeker as George "Bugs" Moran.

Orson Welles was originally supposed to play Capone, but Twentieth Century Fox vetoed the deal, fearing that Welles was "undirectable." The film's narration has a style similar to that of Welles but was actually narrated by renowned Hollywood voice actor Paul Frees.

A young Bruce Dern plays one of the victims of the massacre, and Jack Nicholson has a bit part as a gangster. Also featured are Jan Merlin as one of Moran's lieutenants and veteran Corman actor Dick Miller as one of the phony policemen involved in the massacre.

Synopsis

An organized crime war breaks out between two rival gangs in Chicago during the Roaring Twenties. The leader of the Southside Mob is the notorious Al Capone, who resents his nemesis George "Bugs" Moran's activity in the city. Moran, too, wants control of the town's bootlegging and gambling operations. His lieutenants Peter and Frank Gusenberg use threats and intimidation to make tavern owners do business with them in exchange for "protection." Moran gives the order to have a crony of Capone's eliminated as the Chicago body count escalates. Inclusive are flashbacks to a lunchtime attack on Capone at a restaurant outside of Chicago by Hymie Weiss and Moran in September 1926 and the murders of Weiss in October 1926 and Dion O'Banion in November 1924 by Capone's gang.

A young and reckless criminal, Jim (Don Durant), stows away on his brother Chris Johnston's (Bill Cord) boat after killing two men interrupting his gun running. As they sail out to the Sulu Sea they are caught in a terrible storm and are shipwrecked off a beautiful island that is inhabited by a secretive village of pearl divers. Though the lonely and beautiful women of the island are friendly and flirtatious with the two brothers (the only remaining survivors), the village elder Queen Pua (Jeanne Gearson) is cautious and hostile, wanting the two off the island as soon as possible. Chris falls in love with one of the island beauties, Mahia (Lisa Montell), while Jim, being a wanted man, seeks to escape before the naval ship sent to rescue them arrives. Terrified of being recognized and executed for his crimes, Jim fixes one of the islanders' broken boats and lets his brother and his forbidden love in on his plan. But before they can leave, the black-hearted criminal is overcome by greed and steals the islanders' precious pearls, injuring a native in the process. Once out to sea Chris discovers what his sibling has done and tries to stop him in a fight on some jagged rocks. Jim tries to get away, but he gets tangled in the boats ropes and falls to the sea, where the shark kills him, finally punishing him for his crimes.

Dans un petit village côtier, les hommes ne sont pas rentrés de leur dernière expédition, les femmes décident donc de partir à leur recherche, elles sont rejointes par Ottar, le seul homme qui soit resté au village. Voulant tester la force des vikings, le fils de Stark, Senya joue une partie de bras de fer avec Desir, la leader des Vikings, Senya gagne la première manche, Desir la seconde mais les chef les empêche de jouer la belle. Stark propose aux femmes viking de venir avec eux à une partie de chasse.au cours de laquelle Senya est à deux doigts de se faire tuer par un sanglier, il est sauvé par Desir qui tue le sanglier, mais il considère ce sauvetage comme une humiliation et revendique pour lui-même la mort du sanglier. On fait visiter aux femmes vikings la grotte où les mâles sont détenus en esclavage. L'une des femmes tente de les faire évader, mais la prêtresse des vikings, la brune Enger, jalouse de Désir, prévient Stark et fait échouer l'évasion. Stark décrète la mise à mort de Désir et de son amant. Deux buchers sont allumés, et le premier qui demandera grâce aura la vie sauve, mais aucun des deux amoureux ne se décide à le faire. Enger regrette son geste et invoque Thor qui provoque un orage, qui éteint les bûchers tandis que la foudre électrocute Senya qui allait se servir de son épée. Les vikings fuit, mais sont sur le point d'être rattrapés par les Grimault, Enger prend un chemin détournée pour faire diversion et se jette de la falaise, les vikings fuient en barque poursuivi par les Grimault, Le monstre marin survient engloutissant les Grimault tandis qu'Ottar parvient à tuer le monstre d'un coup de lance.

They blame a group of Mexicans in a repair shop, and the two groups brawl. The police arrive, chasing the Angels on foot, and the Loser escapes by stealing a police motorcycle. After a chase on mountain roads, one of the officers shoots the Loser in the back, putting him in the hospital.
