Synopsis
Returning to his Bronx home following World War II, Timmy Cleary (Martin Sheen) discovers his middle class parents have drifted apart and constantly quarrel at the least provocation. Once closer to his mother Nettie (Patricia Neal), the young veteran finds himself bonding with his salesman father John (Jack Albertson), but he tries to remain neutral when intervening in their disputes.Actors

Bernard Lawrence (Tony Curtis) is an American journalist stationed in Paris, France. Antonis and Eleni are an unmarried couple, which live in a traditional neighbourhood in Athens. Antonis is a literate employee of a ministry but Eleni is an illiterate housewife from a poor family. Due to their social divide between them, Antonis underrates Eleni and treats her like a slave. Nevertheless, she carries on loving him and serving him. But the situation changes after their marriage. Eleni starts to emancipate and she claims equality. Antonis doesn't put up with the new situation and asks divorce. Several years later the two former spouses are met in the demolition of their old house. They remember their old lives and decide to give their relationship even one chance. The film features the characters mixing the humour with emotion and nostalgia, filled also with the beautiful pictures of Athens at those years.

Maria is a free-spirited young Austrian woman studying to become a nun at Nonnberg Abbey in Salzburg in 1938. Her love of music and the mountains, her youthful enthusiasm and imagination, and her lack of discipline cause some concern among the nuns. The Mother Abbess, believing Maria would be happier outside the abbey, sends her to the villa of retired naval officer Captain Georg von Trapp to be governess to his seven children—Liesl, Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta, and Gretl. The Captain has been raising his children alone using strict military discipline following the death of his first wife. At first, the children treat Maria as they did their former governesses—playing tricks on her as a way of gaining their father's attention. Maria responds with kindness and patience, and soon the children come to trust and respect her.
