The film is the third in Sidney J. Furie's Vietnam War trilogy along with 1977's The Boys in Company C and 2001's Under Heavy Fire, resembling Oliver Stone and his Vietnam War trilogy of 1986's Platoon, 1989's Born on the Fourth of July and 1993's Heaven & Earth.
Synopsis
30 years since the Fall of Saigon, Ray Watson (played by Bobby Hosea from Under Heavy Fire), a Vietnam War veteran now working as a state senator, returns to Vietnam once again. When he arrives at his hotel room, he gets an unexpected visit from another veteran (played by Michael Ironside), who claims to be one of Ray's old comrades from Echo Company. Ray doesn't remember him, so he starts to remind him about the time that they served together. Meanwhile, Sara Reid (played by Ally Sheedy) from the Vietnam Veterans Action Committee in Washington, DC, along with a few government agents, are in the hotel opposite secretly listening in to the conversation between the two veterans as they are assigned to search for a missing soldier.Actors

25 years since the Vietnam War ended, a group of American veterans return to Vietnam and meet up with TV journalist Kathleen Martin (played by Carre Otis), who is assigned to cover the reunion of the men from Echo Company. Soon, they are joined by their old Captain named Ramsey (played by Casper Van Dien), and they revisit the old battlefields they fought in and experience flashbacks of their time in the war during 1968.

While on a routine patrol on United States airspace west of Alaska, pilots Doug "Thumper" Masters and Matt "Cobra" Cooper test the g-forces of their F-16C planes. Their antics get them carried away, as they stray over Soviet airspace. As they are being escorted back into U.S. airspace, one of the Soviet planes has Doug on missile-lock. This leads to a brief dogfight. In the ensuing battle, Matt loses control of his plane and is too late to save Doug, who is shot down by the Soviets. The next day, the U.S. Secretary of Defense publicly denies the incident, claiming a training accident caused by a fuel system malfunction killed Doug. This later revealed in Iron Eagle on the Attack that Doug actually survived by ejecting before his aircraft exploded and became a POW for a few years until released on goodwill.

In Jerusalem, a rabbi named Rostenburg is using software he designed to decode seventy eschatological prophecies hidden within the Torah. Rostenburg handwrote each one he found in a journal, to be entered into the program for deciphering. The program deciphers a prophecy which says that he is about to die; immediately, he tears the page containing the final code from his journal, hiding it in his shirt pocket. He is then shot and killed by an assassin, who takes his journal and the optical disc containing the decoding program. After the assassin leaves, two mysterious men (later revealed to be two prophets) retrieve the journal page Rostenburg had hidden.

United States Naval Aviator LT Pete "Maverick" Mitchell and his Radar Intercept Officer (RIO) LTJG Nick "Goose" Bradshaw fly the F-14A Tomcat aboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65).
