It won the third Manga Taishō and the Short Story Award at the 14th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The manga has been licensed in North America by Yen Press. Fuji TV produced a live-action film adaptation and released on April 28, 2012. A second film was released in 2014. An anime television adaptation by DLE Inc. aired in Japan on Fuji TV's Noitamina block in January 2012. The show has been licensed by Discotek Media in North America, and by Siren Visual in Australia.
Synopsis
The story follows a Roman architect named Lucius, who is having trouble coming up with ideas. One day, he discovers a hidden tunnel underneath a spa that leads him to a modern Japanese bath house. Inspired by the innovations found there, he creates his own spa, Roma Thermae, bringing in the modern ideas to his time.Actors

Sous l'antiquité romaine, Lucius, architecte de thermes, continue de recevoir des commandes particulières. On lui demande notamment de construire des bains capables de remettre en forme les gladiateurs ou encore d'autres qui pourraient amuser les enfants. Alors qu'il n'est pas vraiment inspiré Lucius est de nouveau aspiré dans une faille temporelle qui l'amène au pays des "faces plates", le Japon du XXIe siècle. Il y pioche plusieurs idées pour ses projets et y recroise aussi Yamakoshi Manami qui va le suivre lors de son retour à Rome. Alors qu'il travaille désormais sur un projet de grande ampleur pour l'empereur Hadrianus, Lucius, et avec lui Manami, va se retrouver pris au milieu d'un conflit politique décidant de l'avenir de Rome.

Azumi and her only remaining colleague Nagara find themselves hunted by ninjas hired by General Kanbei for the assassinations they have carried out. One of which is the killing of his master. They hid temporarily in a temple so Nagara can heal his wounds sustained from their recent encounter. Azumi comes across some bandits led by Ginkaku, a young bandit who bears a striking resemblance to Azumi's former friend (and love interest) Nachi. Later, Azumi and Nagara are found by the allied ninjas working for Gessai, upon whose orders the assassins initially began their mission. After discussing it with Gessai, Azumi and Nagara leave to seek out their final target, Sanada Masayuki. On their mission they are accompanied by a squad of government ninja, among them a young woman named Kozue.

Take a par le passé contracté une dette auprès d'usuriers yakuzas menés par un certain Higuchi qu'il a fini par livrer à la police pour leur échapper. Mais depuis, il est obligé de se cacher pour fuir les représailles et vit de petites escroqueries qu'il met en place avec son comparse Tetsu. Un jour, ils font par hasard la rencontre d'une voleuse à la tire prénommée Mahiro qui vient de se retrouver à la rue. Pris de compassion pour la jeune fille, Take l'invite à venir habiter avec lui et Tetsu. Le lendemain, les deux hommes ont la surprise de voir débarquer chez eux, non seulement Mahiro, mais aussi sa sœur Yahiro et le petit ami de cette dernière Kantaro. Alors que Take parvient à convaincre Tetsu de laisser les trois jeunes gens s'installer avec eux, les yakuzas semblent avoir retrouver la piste de Take et recommencent leurs intimidations.

Emi Hosho, a third-rate lawyer without much of a future, is tasked with defending Goro Yabe, a man arrested for the murder of his wife. Without much hope of winning, Yabe proclaims his innocence, saying that he was under sleep paralysis at the time of the murder. Emi heads to the inn where Yabe stayed and encounters the ghost of fallen samurai Rokubei Sarashina, who claims he was the one holding Yabe in sleep paralysis. Rokubei is brought to the court as a witness. However, the prosecution denies the existence of the occult, asserting that Rokubei's testimony is inadmissible in court. So begins the struggle to prove Yabe's innocence.
