Synopsis
Jack vit dans la jungle en Nouvelle-Guinée. Sa femme, Rose, y est tuée. Deux ans plus tard, à Melbourne, il rencontre une dénommée Kate. Il est tout de suite frappé par sa ressemblance avec sa femme et en tombe très vite amoureux. Il la convainc de le suivre et de s'installer avec lui dans sa jungle. Alors que tout débutait parfaitement bien, tout va peu à peu virer au cauchemar pour Kate : Jack fait tout pour qu'elle ressemble à Rose. Voulant fuir, elle découvre qu'il lui a volé son passeport.Actors

The story is set in Central Industrial Prison, a privately run maximum security prison in the middle of the Australian desert. An outbreak of violence within the prison has resulted in a total lockdown. A committee is appointed by the prison's governors to investigate the cause of the outbreak, but their findings are in stark contrast to the facts behind the riot. As the viewers see, both the prisoners and the guards are slowly and deliberately brutalised, manipulated and provoked into the forthcoming eruption of violence, to justify the construction of a new and more "secure" facility.

The film follows a group of criminals and corrupt cops who find themselves in serious trouble. Peter Mandrake (Coyote), an American photographer in Brazil, is preparing an in loco essay for his new book, about the "Train Surfers" (groups of boys who court danger "surfing" on the roof of the trains) in the city of Rio de Janeiro. A local call girl he is friends with is murdered, and when the police can make no progress Mandrake decides to investigate himself. Subsequently, two hired thugs break into his apartment demanding a disk, and, when he doesn't produce it because he can't do so, they rape his girlfriend and stab him, leaving him to die. Vowing revenge, Mandrake enlists the help of Hermes (Karyo), a professional knife fighter who owes Mandrake a debt, to teach him the art of knife fighting. The obsession this develops into causes Mandrake's girlfriend to leave him, wanting the whole thing to simply go away, but Mandrake refuses to let go.

In and out of jail since he was 16, Melbourne standover man Mark Brandon "Chopper" Read (Eric Bana) is serving a 16-year sentence for kidnapping a supreme court judge to get his childhood friend, Jimmy Loughnan (Simon Lyndon), out of the notorious H Division of maximum security Pentridge Prison. Jimmy, while working at a strip club in Kings Cross, is approached by local mob boss Pando who says he has work for him. Policeman Philippe Jordan works in Marseille. He intercepts the delivery of a shipload of heroin by jumping out of a helicopter onto a speedboat and throws all drugs into the sea.
