The film features Silambarasan and Hansika Motwani in the lead roles, with Santhanam, VTV Ganesh and Brahmanandam portraying supporting roles. The film was produced by S. S. Chakravarthy under the banner NIC Arts. S. Thaman composed the music while Sakthi and T. S. Suresh handled the cinematography and editing respectively.
The film's production began on 6 June 2012 in Chennai and lasted till June 2015. The film was predominantly shot in Chennai, with the portions of the film also shot at Hyderabad, Bangalore and Bangkok. After facing multiple delays, the film was released worldwide on 14 August 2015.

Arjun (Silambarasan), an animation artist living in London with his uncle (Ganesh), meets Nisha (Varalaxmi Sarathkumar) in a London pub. Kumar (Siddharth) is a software engineer who lives in a joint family. All of the marriages in his family have been love marriages for generations. He, however, swears off girls and love because of bad experiences in his childhood and teenage. One day, Sanjana (Hansika Motwani) joins his office and he falls in love with her. Unable to convey his feelings, he seeks the help of Mokia (Santhanam), a man who earns a living by helping men impress their lovers. Mokia teaches him to be more assertive and flirtatious. He makes Kumar spread the rumour that Sanjana is seeing her boss, George (Ganesh Venkatraman). As a result, Sanjana stops spending time with George. George then asks her to be his girlfriend, coincidentally when Kumar was planning to confess his love for Sanjana. She accepts, leaving Kumar heartbroken. Mokia then intervenes and breaks up George and Sanjana. Sanjana and Kumar finally get together but Mokia tries to break them apart after he finds out it's his sister he has been helping Kumar with. Then, Kumar admits to Sanjana that he manipulated her feelings but then seeks her forgiveness. Then they get back together, with the acceptance of Mokia who sees Kumar's true love for Sanjana.

Saravanan (Vishal) is a person in Ooty who runs a business of gathering people for politicians. One day he met Maya (Hansika) and fell for her. However, Rajshekar (Santhanam) also falls in love with her. Saravanan convinced Rajshekar to not fall for Maya by talking about the expenses high class people require. Rajshekar is a police inspector. Due to several mishaps caused, he was fired and started working as a hotel doorman. He was shocked to find Saravanan and Maya going out together. He asked Saravanan how he made Maya to fall in love with him. As Saravanan finished his story it was revealed that it was Saravanan who indirectly caused those mishaps to Rajshekar. Rajshekar enraged hired Kumaran (Vaibhav), who is a specialist in breaking other's love. Kumaran then sends Andrea Jeremiah who shows an edited photo of her and Saravanan together and how a child mistook Saravanan for her father. This causes a conflict in the relationship of Saravanan and Maya. Due to love failure Saravanan consumed alcohol and was unconscious. Kumaran who was also at the bar helped Saravanan and dropped him at his house. Saravanan's mother, Thulasi (Tulasi) who was ashamed of Saravanan's behaviour send him to meet his father Aalavanthan (Prabhu) and his younger brother Shakti (Sathish) at Madurai.There they meet Alavanthan and rejoins him. They also come to know that Kumaran is also the son of Alavanthan's ex- lover. Alavanthan reveals to his sons that they have 3 aunts (Ramya Krishnan), (Aishwarya), (Kiran Rathod). Alavanthan wants his sons to marry the daughters of their aunts so that their family could reunite once and for all. At first Saravanan hesitates but when he finds Maya is also a daughter of his aunt he agrees to the plan. The village people mistook them as police posted to their village, which helps the trio to sneak into their aunts house. There their uncles help them to create affection to their daughters. Their aunts daughters also starts to reciprocate love to the trio. Their elder aunt (Ramya Krishnan) decides to participate in the MLA election in their provinces, but villan Pasupathy current MLA of the provinces and ex-servant of Alavanthan's family provokes her by saying that if he lose to her he will work at her home as servant but if she loses her daughter Maya will be married to his son. Saravanan then helps his aunt to win the elections. However a few days before the elections Saravanan's aunts find out that saravanan's father is their brother Alavanthan who was seen as the murderer of their father. their hatred towards Alavanthaan results in them getting Saravanan and his brothers caught in police and Alavanthaan is hurt by his sisters' harsh words at him. He suddenly got a heart attack and is admitted in the hosipital. As Saravanan and his brothers are stuck in jail, his aunt had lost many of the peoples hope for voting her due to Pasupathy's evil plans in causing misunderstandings. Then Sarvanan uses RDX, to stop Pasputhy's evil plans. Then when Pasaputhy tries to bribe people with money, Sarvanan and Kumaran cause some mishap and the tables turn giving Periya Poonu the edge. There Pasupathy comes with a mob and tries to kill the whole family and take Maya, but Sarvanan and Maya unite in a different location, and then fights Pasupathy and his son giving the victory. It was also revieled that Pasupathy killed Aalavanthan's father not Aalavanthan. There Aalavanthan and the whole family unite, and Maya weds Saravanan.

Chandra Shekhar aka Chandu (Nitin) is a daredevil youth and is a fearless boy. Once he comes across a beautiful girl Nandu (Hansika Motwani), daughter of a dreaded factionalist Peddi Reddy (Suman). Soon he loses his heart. He starts teasing her and wants to prove that he is sincerely loving Nandu. He tells Nandu that he could do anything for her. Then the latter tells him that he should not follow her until she calls him. In order to grab her attention, he sends his father (Chandramohan) and mother (Pragati) to express his love and let her know that they too encourage him instead of trying to divert his attention from love. Later Nandu realises that she too is truly loving him. At this juncture, Jayaprakash Reddy (Jayaprakash Reddy) goes to Peddi Reddy for an alliance for his brother's son Veera Pratap Reddy (Saleem Baig). Peddi Reddy refuses to marry Nandu with Veera Pratap Reddy. This flares up the factionalism between the two. At a time when Nandu wants to express her love to Chandu, she is taken away by her father to their village. The climax deals as to how the two meet and how the success of their love turns up.

One morning in his house, Saravanan (Udhayanidhi Stalin) receives his ex-girlfriend, Meera's (Hansika Motwani) wedding invitation. He phones his friend Parthasarathy aka Partha (Santhanam) to come with his janvasa car. On his way to Pondicherry, Saravanan thinks of his flashback. He was a ruthless youth. One day in traffic, he sees Meera and falls for her on the site. He follows her to a cloth shop and also to her Air Hostess class. He sees her house and he and Partha goes to her house as Meera calls them. There, Meera threatens Saravanan by showing her dad's photo, who is a Deputy Commissioner. But still, Saravanan follows her and asks her to love him. Meera takes her to her dad's office and he asks Saravanan to stop following Meera. Meera tells Saravanan that she has some qualifications required by her lover like shaving regularly, dressing well, breaking his friendship with Partha, coming on time, etc. Saravanan tells this to Partha and Partha asks him if Meera or he is best for him. Saravanan tells Meera is more important to him than Partha and this causes a break between Saravanan's and Partha's friendship. Later, Saravanan joins the broken love of Partha and asks him to rejoin his love. Partha agrees and then they go to Mumbai, following Meera in a flight. There, Meera alas tells that she loves Saravanan. After some months, Meera calls Saravanan once, but he does not pick up the phone and tells Partha that Meera is not real love and it is all a drama. But he really tells this for fun. But Partha had accidentally switched on the phone while Saravanan told all these. Meera, mistaking him for intentionally misusing her, comes there and breaks their love. Now, at Pondicherry, during Meera's marriage, both Saravanan and Partha end up drunk and tell a small story, in a comical way describing the broken love of Saravanan and Meera. Just as the marriage is going to happen, Rajini Murugan (Arya) comes there with a pregnant girl and his wife (Andrea Jeremiah) and tells that Meera's groom has a girlfriend who is pregnant by him and that the girl Rajini Murugan is with, is that girl. The groom agrees his mistake and reunites with his old girlfriend. Saravanan and Partha walk off the Hall, just then Meera comes and hugs Saravanan, hence reuinting with him.
