Synopsis
Simon, inspecteur de police à la retraite, n'apprécie pas du tout d'être placé dans une résidence pour personnes âgées. Heureusement, il se lie très vite d'amitié avec un autre pensionnaire, Alfred, l’ancien propriétaire des lieux, jovial et débonnaire. Mais ce dernier décède dans d'étranges circonstances.Actors

Simon, a retired police inspector, does not appreciate being placed in a retirement home. Fortunately, he quickly becomes friends with Alfred, another resident. When Alfred dies under strange circumstances, the management, supported by the gendarmerie, declare it an accident. Simon, meanwhile, is convinced that this is a crime and he is determined to solve the mystery. With another resident, Francky, rocker and kleptomaniac rogue, he goes for an unusual police investigation.

Claire (Jean Seberg), a young Englishwoman, lives in Paris with her staid husband, Georges (François Périer), a government archivist, and their two small children. One day, while attending a fashion show mounted by her friend Madeleine (Micheline Presle), a couturière, Claire meets a lighthearted young Frenchman, Antoine (Jean-Pierre Cassel). Despite the fact that he is being kept by Madeleine, Claire responds to his advances and returns with him to his luxurious bachelor apartment. Before long she is visiting him five afternoons a week; evenings and weekends are reserved for Georges and the children. Madeleine, strong-willed and possessive, learns of the affair and decides to meet the situation directly by inviting Claire and Georges, as well as Antoine, to the same party. The desired effect is achieved when it becomes apparent that Claire is tiring of Antoine and has no intention of seeing him again. Only Georges, quiet and gentle, understands that nothing has really changed. It will not be long before Claire will once more embark on her quest for chance lovers.

L'industriel André Laroche vient de mourir. À son enterrement se trouve François de Vierne, à qui sa mère confesse « Laroche était Arsène Lupin, et tu es son fils ». Arsène Lupin avait eu un autre fils, Gérard Dagmar, danseur, magicien et parfois cambrioleur. François de Vierne apprend chez le notaire qu'il doit rechercher le trésor royal de Poldavie.
