Synopsis
Alexa, Fernand et Louis partagent un pavillon dans la banlieue parisienne. Fernand s’occupe de la maison, Louis joue et compose de la musique, Alexa gagne l’argent de ce ménage à trois qui vit dans le bonheur de la tolérance. Louis et Alexa consolent Fernand qui souffre d’être séparé de ses enfants, Louis s’est dégagé de sa relation névrotique à sa mère grâce à ses amis, et Alexa a surmonté, avec Fernand et Louis, la déception de son précédent mariage. Mais Fernand rencontre un jour la belle Sylvie, et ce complexe équilibre est soudain menacé…Actors

Paul and Hélène, a wealthy Parisian couple, are preparing to go out for the evening. While driving, they see three men chasing a prostitute down the street. She begs them to save her by letting her into the car, but Paul locks the doors and drives away as the three men savagely beat her, leaving her unconscious in the street. He refuses to let Hélène phone an ambulance, afraid of being charged with not helping a person in danger (which is a crime in France).

Simon Eskanazy is a thirty-year-old gay musician. Born into a Jewish family, he took great pains to accept his homosexuality, and to get his family (including his mother and his uncle, Salomon) to do the same. The latter, Uncle Salomon is a wealthy banker who offered him a deal: he'll give him 10 million francs and will bequeath his mansion to Simon only if Simon agrees to marry a woman. First reluctant, he met Rosalie Baumann, a Jewish singer known for singing in Yiddish, she is very observant, and her parents live in the United States. Little by little, while getting to know her, Simon falls in love with her.

Jeanne Kern enseigne l'histoire dans un cours privé mixte. Volontiers provocante, elle n'ignore pas l'effet qu'elle produit sur les hommes. Les lycéens, surtout mademoiselle Zanon qui vient d'arriver dans l'établissement, les collègues et même le directeur, Bruno Ketti, sont sous le charme. Ce dernier éprouve même pour la jeune femme une passion déraisonnée. Un jour, une lettre anonyme, dénonçant les mœurs lesbiennes de Jeanne, parvient sur le bureau de Ketti. Les missives se succèdent, bientôt suivies de photos compromettantes de parties fines, adressées au directeur, aux enseignants et aux parents d'élèves. Sur les clichés, le visage de l'une des jeunes femmes nues a été découpé, et tout laisse penser que l'inconnue n'est autre que Jeanne. Celle-ci se trouve alors au centre de toutes les attentions et doit affronter le scandale. Dans une situation inconfortable, entre les rapprochements insistants de Ketti, les railleries des élèves et les plaintes des parents, elle gagne la sympathie du professeur de mathématiques, Laurent.

François Pignon, an unassuming divorced man with a teenage son who ignores him, lives a quiet and unremarkable life. When he learns he will be fired from his job as an accountant in a rubber factory, he contemplates suicide, but his new neighbor Jean-Pierre Belone, a former industrial psychologist, dissuades him from jumping from his balcony and suggests a way to keep his position. One narrative follows Miss Monde 1984/Miss Canada (Carole Laure), who wins a contest of the "most virgin"; her prize is the marriage to a milk industry tycoon (John Vernon). However, following his degrading puritanical introduction to intercourse, she vents her intention to leave to her mother-in-law who, at that point, nearly has her killed. The family bodyguard (Roy Callender) takes her away, further humiliates her, and finally packs her in a trunk bound for Paris. She finds herself on the Eiffel Tower, where she absently meets and has intercourse with a Latin singer, El Macho (Sami Frey). The sexual act is interrupted by touring nuns who frighten the lovers into penis captivus. In her post-coital shocked state, she is adopted into an artist community led by Otto Muehl, where she finds affectionate care. The commune practices some liberating sessions, where a member, with the assistance of the others, goes through a (re)birth experience, cries, urinates and defecates like a baby, while the others are cleaning and pampering him. Later she is seen acting for an obscene advertisement, in which she is naked, covered in liquid chocolate.

The film is structured as a series of interconnected flashbacks. Following the death of his father Hal, Oliver reflects on their relationship following the death of Oliver's mother, Georgia. Shortly after her death, Hal came out to his son and began exploring life as an openly gay man. He becomes active in the gay community, finds love and becomes more honest with himself and with his son. As a result, Oliver and Hal become closer during this time. Shortly after Hal's death, Oliver meets Anna, a French actress, at a party.
