Synopsis
La voiture d’Anne et Paul, deux pilotes de rallyes automobiles venus préparer leur prochaine compétition, s'embourbe dans un chemin isolé des Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, où même le téléphone semble inexistant et où les paysans s'étonnent de voir deux voitures à la suite. Anne part chercher du secours tandis que dans l’observatoire situé non loin de là, plutôt que de contempler les étoiles, l’astrophysicien René a des vues sur sa consœur Géraldine qui, elle, n’a d’yeux que pour le berger du coin. Un peu plus loin, des militaires font leurs exercices sous le commandement nerveux de leur sergent-chef qui fait une psychose au sujet de Saddam Hussein : la guerre du Golfe fait alors rage. Le sergent prend pour des espions les membres d’une équipe de cinéastes venus en repérage. Il trouve une disquette contenant des plans qu’il croit être ceux d’une prochaine offensive irakienne : c’est la carte informatisée du rallye-auto qu’Anne a perdue en chemin…Toute la journée, Paul attend le dépanneur qu'Anne cherche quand elle n'est pas emportée dans d'autres imprévus.Actors

Dans une agence ANPE parisienne, Françoise Duru, très efficace placeuse de chômeurs, reçoit Sylvain Berg, dont elle est secrètement amoureuse. Celui-ci est un chômeur professionnel qui passe son temps à marcher et escalader des montagnes. Benoît Constant est lui un employé modèle et expérimenté qui vient de se faire licencier, et qui souhaite à tout prix retrouver rapidement un emploi pour cacher son chômage à sa femme. A Japanese minister of defence is traveling to Paris to sign a weapons contract between Japan and France, but first, he is visiting Marseille to view and rate the city police's anti-gang tactics (using fake attacks on him). During the visit, however, he is kidnapped by a group working for the Japanese yakuza. Emilien (Frédéric Diefenthal) is determined to rescue the minister and detective Petra (Emma Sjöberg), his girlfriend who was also kidnapped, and restore the honour of his department. Once again, speed demon taxi-driver Daniel (Samy Naceri) is called upon to save the day with his high-speed driving skills.

A group of thieves calling themselves the Santa Claus gang are wreaking havoc, and the Marseille police are, as usual, unable to keep up. Superintendent Gibert (played by Bernard Farcy) is distracted by a Chinese journalist (Bai Ling) writing a story on his squad. Detective Emilien's wife, Petra, has just announced that she's pregnant and taxi driver Daniel (Samy Naceri) is in the midst of a relationship crisis. His long-suffering girlfriend Lilly has walked out on him after finding him customising his taxi at four o'clock in the morning, and complaining that their house has become a mere garage. After a string of mistakes in which the thieves outsmart the police time and time again, a journalist is kidnapped. It is revealed that the journalist is the leader of the Santa Claus gang. The police go in search, but Emilien is captured after another botched attempt to arrest them. The journalist sets a trap; she leaves Emilien tied to a chair in an old warehouse, directly in the path of a giant ball which will crush him five minutes later. At the very last moment, Daniel rushes in with his taxi and rescues him. They track the gang to their hideout in the Swiss mountains, where the journalist and her accomplices are arrested by a crack team of Alpine troops. Gibert lands in an ice-bound lake after leaping from an aircraft with them. Petra gives birth, Daniel proposes to Lilly and a Gibert is seen being pushed around in a wheelchair covered in ice.

A Belgian criminal, wanted all over Europe for his crimes, is in the custody of the Police Department of Marseille to be watched for a few hours before transfer to a prison in Congo. Unfortunately Émilien (Frédéric Diefenthal) is tricked by the villain and convinced to let the prisoner go. After these events he's fired, but luckily for him, his friend Daniel (Samy Naceri) helps him one more time by telling him the location where the criminal is located, having been the taxi driver who drove him after he left the police station, not knowing he was a criminal. With Daniel's skills and his new Peugeot 407, Émillen seeks to capture the criminal to restore his job back.
