C'est le cinquième film tiré de la franchise Yo-kai Watch, après Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: Oni-ō no Fukkatsu sorti en 2017 et le second à se situer dans les années 1960 avant l'histoire de la série animée originale. Il met en scène un nouveau personnage principal appelé Shin et son ami yokai nommé Nekomata.
Synopsis
À Sakura Motomachi dans les années 1960, un petit garçon pauvre nommé Shin vit une vie heureuse, jusqu'à la mort de sa mère, dernier membre de sa famille. Désespéré, il fait la rencontre de deux nouveaux amis sur qui il pourra compter : Itsuki, un garçon de son âge qui a perdu sa sœur, et Tae, et qui peuvent voir les yokais.Actors

After the fateful events of Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai, Shaymin, a hedgehog-like legendary Pokémon, is drawn into a battle between Dialga and Giratina, who drags both Shaymin and Dialga into the Reverse World. A frightened Shaymin uses her powers to escape through a portal back to the normal world, Dialga following after he disables Giratina's ability to venture to Earth by trapping it in an infinite time loop. The battle is witnessed by Newton Graceland, a specialist on the Reverse World, and by the film's antagonist Zero.

Ash Ketchum, Dawn, Brock and their Pokémon arrive in Michina Town. As the group relaxes in a nearby river, some watermelons suddenly float towards them. While enjoying the watermelons with their Pokémon, a boy named Kato and his sister Kiko appear who justify that the watermelons were theirs and were kept to cool in the flow of the river. Kato and Kiko then challenge Ash for a tag battle in return of the watermelons. Ash and Dawn thus plan for a tag Pokémon battle against them using Ash's Pikachu and Dawn's Piplup against Kako's Heracross and Kiko's Beautifly. Ash and Dawn win the battle with good teamwork and also request Kato and Kiko to join for eating watermelons. After that, Kato and Kiko suggest Ash and the gang visit the local temple ruins. Whilst visiting a lake, a typhoon suddenly strikes up, but siblings named Sheena and Kevin summon Dialga who ends the typhoon. Giratina arrives, but Sheena uses her ability to communicate with a Pokémon's heart to quell their conflicts with each other, sending Giratina back to its dimension. Palkia then arrives to save Dialga from another typhoon, and Sheena, once again, uses her ability to sync with the two to thank them. Taking the kids to the temple, Sheena and Kevin explain that they investigate disruptions in time and space, and worry that Arceus, the creator of the dimensions, is to awaken, and that he is responsible for the encounters between Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina.

Akane est une jeune fille qui manque de confiance en elle. La veille de son anniversaire, sa mère l'envoie chez une amie, Chii, où elle doit récupérer elle-même son cadeau d'anniversaire. Chii tient une boutique d'antiquités. Akane ne l'aime pas beaucoup car Chii est aussi extravertie qu'Akane est timide. Une fois à la boutique, Akane et Chii font la rencontre du mystérieux alchimiste Hippocrate et de son minuscule apprenti Pipo, qui lui déclarent être en mission pour sauver le monde. À partir de la cave de la maison, ils ouvrent un passage vers un pays merveilleux, Wonderland. Ils reconnaissent en Akane la Déesse du Vent Vert, seule capable de sauver leur monde de la sécheresse en guérissant le prince héritier de la dynastie des rois de la pluie et en l'aidant à accomplir la Cérémonie des Gouttes qui, une fois tous les 600 ans, renouvelle l'eau du royaume. Hippocrate remet à Akane une « Ancre d'en avant », un talisman qui fait pencher son corps en avant chaque fois qu'elle devient négative et l'oblige à aller de l'avant. Akane n'a aucune envie d'explorer cet autre monde, tandis que Chii est tout excitée. Mais les jeunes filles se rendent compte que l'Ancre d'en avant ne laisse pas le choix à Akane : elle se trouve entraînée malgré elle dans un passage souterrain, suivie par Chii.

Oriko Seki (Okko) est une jeune fille ayant perdu ses parents lors d'un accident de voiture. Mizore est une lycéenne en troisième et dernière année qui joue du hautbois dans l'orchestre de son lycée, Kitauji, dans la ville d'Uji.
