The People (1972)

Directed by John Korty
Genres Science fiction, Comedy
Actors Kim Darby, William Shatner, Diane Varsi

This science fiction film tells the story of Melodye Amerson (Kim Darby), a young teacher who goes to a remote area to work with a group of individuals who have isolated themselves from civilization and maintained an independent community, vaguely similar to the Amish or a religious commune. Melodye is unnerved by the secretive behavior of her students, and the fact that all fun, games and activities she proposes are forbidden to them. Valancy (Diane Varsi), an elder in the community, advises Melodye to stay, because she senses that things are about to change in the valley, and Melodye herself is a part of that change.
Food for the Gods, 10minutes
Directed by H. Scott Hughes
Origin Canada
Genres Drama, Science fiction, Romance
Themes Films set in the future
Actors Yvette Lu, Danny Dorosh, Shaker Paleja

In the protagonist role, Yvette Lu is "Sheenyana," a beautiful, mystic warrior and member of the fictional Kyontawa tribe—a post-Neolithic tribe of humans residing on a pristine forested world, presumably in the Alpha Centauri star system. In the story, the Kyontawa are the descendents of a highly advanced Asian civilization from Earth's forgotten history, which established a deep-space settlement on what is now Sheenyana's planet. Clearly, that high-tech civilization is no more and the Kyontawa's knowledge of it is limited to their religious mythology of "Bird Gods" who seeded their people from the sky. Their language (subtitled in the film) has similarities to Asian languages of Earth, particularly Japanese. After a NASA expedition lands in Sheenyana’s forest, Sheenyana saves the life of American astronaut Lt. Richard O’Conner (Danny Dorosh). Their connection is immediate and, before long, the two fall into a forbidden affair—the foundation of a cultural clash which will threaten to rip them apart. When Sheenyana’s psychic visions foretell a coming danger from Earth, they lead her to the anguishing conclusion that the only way to save her people may be to sacrifice an innocent man—and the love of her life.

During an emergency medical mission to a distant star system, the starship USS Challenger, is attacked by the Specks, a tiny alien ship less than an inch long. The Specks, prideful and convinced of their superiority, ruthlessly blast the starship's hull confident they'll succeed, but they're so small their weapons merely scratch the paint. The Challenger must get away from the Specks to continue its mission before time runs out and millions start dying, but the Speck ship is so close that it lies inside the hyperwarp envelope, and any attempt by the Challenger to leave will destroy the diminutive warriors. Captain Ryan doesn't want to harm the Specks (We do not greet new races by killing them!), but even a warning shot could vaporize the little ship. If Ryan leaves, he kills the Specks, if he doesn't leave soon, millions of people will die. Captain Ryan is joined by Andy, the outdated android who sucks up to the Captain so he won't be replaced, Katie, the telepath who becomes sexually aroused by the telepathic drug, Sara, the beautiful but hard-nosed helmsman, Tuk, a fierce warrior from a double gravity planet, and Max, the best First Officer in the fleet.
