The film's climax is an extended chase through the streets of San Francisco.

All of the women on the planet Mars have died in an atomic war, except for Martian Princess Marcuzan (Marilyn Hanold). Marcuzan and her right-hand man, Dr. Nadir (Lou Cutell), decide they will travel to Earth and steal all of the women on the planet in order to continue the Martian race. The Martians shoot down a space capsule manned by the android Colonel Frank Saunders (Robert Reilly), causing it to crash in Puerto Rico. Frank's electronic brain and the left half of his face are damaged after encountering a trigger-happy Martian and his ray gun. Frank, now "Frankenstein", described by his creator as an "astro-robot without a control system" proceeds to terrorize the island. A subplot involves the martians abducting bikini clad women.

Après trois mois de mission au large de l'Afrique, le porte-avions Clemenceau rentre vers l'arsenal de Brest. Soudain, il reçoit l'ordre de faire demi-tour et de prendre les dispositions d'alerte. Nul ne sait exactement de quoi il s'agit. Il est vaguement question d'une nouvelle tension Est-Ouest. Le lieutenant de vaisseau Gaillac et ses pilotes d'Étendard IV rallient le porte-avions qu'ils avaient quitté quelques heures plus tôt, mais Majo, la tête brûlée du groupe, invoque un problème personnel et manque le départ. Pendant ce temps, à bord, l'alerte maximale est déclenchée avec avionnage des armements nucléaires. La tension et l'énervement montent jusqu'à ce que Ravesne, le commandant du bâtiment, apprenne enfin par son ami Bricourt de quoi il est question : un satellite de nationalité et de technologie inconnues est brutalement apparu dans le ciel et affole les états-majors de toutes les grandes nations.

The plot concerns an American astronaut, Frank Douglas, who mysteriously disappears from his spacecraft as it parachutes to Earth. The vanished astronaut is apparently replaced by or turned into a large, radioactive humanoid monster. A team of scientists and military men attempt to capture the monster – and at one point succeed, only to have him escape again. Neither the capture nor the escape are ever shown, and are simply mentioned by the narrator.

Lee Barrett, a private investigator and former intelligence agent discharged for his outspoken views, is approached by a man with a tempting offer to join a political organization opposing bioweapons. His refusal proves the correct response, as the man is an impersonator sent by his former boss Eric Cavanaugh to test his loyalty. Barrett is asked by Cavanaugh to investigate the murder of the security chief of Station Three — a top-secret bioweapons laboratory station in the desert of Southern California — and the disappearance of its director and head scientist, Dr. Baxter. After they arrive at the station and wait for a time lock on the sealed lab to open, they are advised by another scientist, Dr. Gregor Hoffman, to seal the lab using concrete. Hoffman informs them that there are two lethal bioweapons in the lab, a strain of botulinus that oxidizes eight hours after its release, and a recently developed virus that he calls the "Satan Bug", which could kill all life on Earth in a matter of months. Determined to discover what happened in the room and taking extreme cautions, Barrett enters to find Dr. Baxter dead, with the vials containing the "Satan Bug" and 1200 grams of botulinus missing.
