A famous singer, Jenny Ascot (Evelyn Stewart), visits her cousin Martha Caldwell (Carroll Baker) at her home in the Pyrenees. Caldwell has long been rendered mute after witnessing both her parents being killed in a train crash. While Ascot and Caldwell are travelling to Caldwell's home, they notice a strange man who seems to be following them. That night, at Caldwell's villa, Ascot hears noises coming from the garage, and when she investigates, is killed by an unseen figure.

Arthur Bishop (Charles Bronson) is a "mechanic" — a top hit man (assassin). He works exclusively for a secret international organization, which has very strict rules. Bishop is very sophisticated, as he regularly listens to classical music, has an art collection, and is a connoisseur of fine wines. However, he is forced to live alone - he cannot show emotions or trust people. Bishop is under constant emotional pressure, so much so that he is prescribed medication for depression, and one day he is temporarily hospitalized when he loses consciousness as a result of the stress. Bishop pays a call girl (Jill Ireland) for an ongoing girlfriend experience to have a simulated romantic (social and sexual) relationship, including her writing him fake love letters.

Un milliardaire, Johan Wallenberger, est assassiné dans le train fantôme d'une fête foraine. The film centers on the eccentric Mooney family whom live in a large house in rural England in the early 1900s. Dans un contexte politique particulièrement explosif, le journal conservateur milanais "Il Giornale" affiche envers et contre tout son soutien à la classe patronale. Se préparant à des élections qui s'annoncent houleuses, la rédaction, menée par le peu scrupuleux Bizanti, met d'ailleurs tout en œuvre pour orienter l'opinion publique, profitant d'une sombre affaire de crime sexuel pour l'émouvoir. Le sinistre fait divers est ainsi monté en épingle et Mario Boni, jeune militant communiste soupçonné du meurtre, est très vite désigné comme coupable en première page afin de mieux discréditer les divers courants gauchistes. Intrigué par de criantes anomalies dans la façon dont est menée l'enquête, le jeune reporter Roveda, d'abord docile, finit par démonter la vaste machination médiatique dans laquelle se sont engagés ses employeurs et découvre le véritable coupable.

Several fashion models are killed by a murderer who poisons a cat's claws with curare. Each victim is given a shawl as a gift, which is laced with a chemical attracting the cat. The first such victim, Paola, had been in a relationship with a blind composer, Peter Oliver (Anthony Steffen) who overhears a conversation he believes may help him track down the killer. Oliver, aided by his butler Burton (Umberto Raho) tracks the cat to its owner Susan (Jeannette Len), who is murdered before she can reveal who has been using the cat. However, the identity of the killer is eventually discovered to be Françoise (Sylva Koscina), the owner of the studio employing the murdered models. Francoise had killed Paola after discovering that her husband Victor (Giacomo Rossi-Stuart) had been having an affair with the young model, and had committed the other murders to help cover up the motive for the first killing.

Bill Schmidt and his long-term girlfriend Martha Wayne and their young son Hal live in a small Connecticut farmhouse owned by Martha's overbearing father.
