Perdita (Rosie Perez) is a tough, no-nonsense lady clad in a Tura Satana-style black outfit. She meets Romeo Dolorosa (Javier Bardem), a maniacal criminal who also happens to be an even more maniacal witch doctor. Romeo robs a bank but risks getting caught in order to force the Bank Teller to strip her shirt and reveal her large breasts. Once in the street, he hides his face from the cops by grabbing and french kissing a random woman on the street. Crossing the border into Mexico together, Perdita and Romeo become lovers and partners in crime as they kidnap a random Anglo-Saxon teenage couple in order to sacrifice them. Along the way they also hijack a truckload of human fetuses and try to evade a determined Drug Enforcement Administration officer (James Gandolfini).

A man (later identified as a thief) representing The Fool, a tarot card typically depicting a young man stepping off a cliff, lies on the ground with flies covering his face like excrement. He is befriended by a footless, handless dwarf (representing the Five of Swords: defeat) and goes into a city to make money from tourists. The thief's resemblance to Jesus Christ inspires some to use his likeness for the crucifixes that they sell by casting an impression of his face and body. After a dispute with a priest who rejects the thief's likeness of himself, the thief eats off the face of his wax statue and sends it skyward with balloons, symbolically eating the body of Christ and offering "himself" up to Heaven. Soon after, he notices a crowd gathered around a tall tower, where a large hook with a bag of gold has been sent down in exchange for food. The thief, wishing to find the source of the gold, ascends the tower, finding the alchemist (played by Jodorowsky) and his silent female assistant.

Un archéologue lègue un codex secret et une carte, menant à un fabuleux trésor aztèque, au docteur Trelles avant d'être assassiné par le gang du Dragon Noir. Se sachant également poursuivi par cette société secrète, Trelles le brise en trois morceaux et les donne à deux sœurs lutteuses, Gloria Venus et Golden Rubí, ainsi qu'au fiancé de l'une d'entre elles, Armando. Ce dernier a notamment été averti par l'archéologue lors d'un combat entre les deux filles que Trelles était en danger. Pendant ce temps, le Dragon noir kidnappe Chela, la fille d'un scientifique décédé, afin de la manipuler mentalement. Elle réussit à voler les deux morceaux confiés aux deux sœurs après les avoir droguées. Pourtant, le gang collabore avec elles pour qu'elles déchiffrent le codex, pénètrent dans la pyramide et qu'elles dérobent le trésor. Malheureusement, elles libèrent une momie aztèque, capable de se transformer en chauve-souris ou en serpent, et devront confronter le Prince Fugiyato, le chef du Dragon Noir, ainsi que sa bande de lutteuses.
