The stories take place in one afternoon. We are first introduced to an amateur band of twenty-somethings; the members consisting of a drummer, a bassist, a lead guitarist, and a rhythm guitarist. The band meet up in a dark basement where they commence their session with a loud piece. As the music continues to play, the film jumps to a kitchen, where we are introduced to a young woman. The young woman arrives furious (though reasons are open to interpretation), and impulsively opens the refrigerator; where the first thing she sees is a box of strawberries. From here, she decides to take out her anger by cooking.
Rod Santiago's Buhawi Jack is an action-adventure series that paints the country's historical backdrops of people, places and things. The story revolves around the adventures of Jack, Vera, Rex and their quest to solve puzzles from the past that will greatly affect the future.
Boy (Paolo Contis) is struggling to save his girlfriend Sofia (Tanya Garcia), who is forced to work as a prostitute for the scheming Madam San (Rio Locsin). Boy and his best friend Sonny (Rico Blanco) visit their childhood friend Francis (Epi Quizon), who is now a violent drug dealer. Unexpectedly, Francis suffers from a heart attack and dies. Instead of reporting the incident to his family, Boy and Sonny hid Francis' body as they searched the entire house for the tablets of Ecstasy, which they were hoping to sell. Chaos ensues when Francis' family and girlfriend, as well as drug pusher Rocky (Christopher De Leon) find out about his death.
Wacks plans a weekend get-away using his father's yacht without him knowing. However, the boat breaks down, forcing the group to stay on a nearby island. The boat is not tightly anchored to the bottom; as a result it drifts away from the island with nobody on board. Left stranded, the gang try to survive as their loved ones search for them. Eager to find help, the guys move out using an improvised raft, but not before Wacks finally confesses his feelings for Peachy, who fell unconscious in a bat cave. The entire group is eventually rescued the following day.
Tonyo (Joseph Estrada), a mini-bus driver in Olongapo, opposes U.S. military bases in the Philippines. He saw the changes of the City after the military bases were established. Social problems of corruption, prostitution, poverty, and the plight of fishermen after the base appropriated much of the land and sea. The movie depicts his struggle between principle and practicality, a battle of healthy past and promising future and the quest for freedom and nationalism.
