La Reine de la nuit demande au prince Tamino de retrouver sa fille Pamina, qui a été enlevée par un prêtre nommé Sarastro. Le prince part avec Papageno, un oiseleur. Lorsqu'ils retrouvent la princesse, ils découvrent que la situation n'est pas aussi tranchée que le disait la reine. Sarastro accepte l'union de Tamino et Pamina à condition qu'ils réussissent chacun leur parcours initiatique.
Set in the wake of the long Chadian civil war, 16-year-old Atim (Ali Bacha Barkai) is sent by his grandfather to the city to kill Nassara (Youssouf Djaoro), the man who murdered his father before Atim's birth. Atim, carrying his father's gun, finds Nassara running a bakery. Unexpectedly, the taciturn Nassara takes Atim under his wing as the son he never had and begins teaching him how to run the bakery. The emotionally conflicted Atim is drawn into the life of Nassara and his pregnant wife (Aziza Hisseine), before a finale that Variety described as "sharp, fast and unexpected."
Alfonso (here played by Jean Franko) challenges his friends Ferrando and Guglielmo to the fidelity of their respective boyfriends, Dorino and Fiorino. Ferrando and Guglielmo insist their lovers are true, Alfonso sets out to test both. He takes his first stab at Dorino and summons Despino to help conquer Fiorino. Having lost their bets, Ferrando and Guglielmo surrender to Alfonso, who claims his prize.
The film begins when Nomakhaya arrives at a Cape Town police station, looking for police sergeant Jongikhaya. He is out on patrol, so she decides to return later to avoid being harassed by the other officers. Meanwhile, Carmen and Amanda are going to work at the cigarette factory. They pass in front of Jongikhaya's police vehicle and Carmen yells at him for parking there. Nomakhaya eventually finds Jongikhaya and gives him a ring that his dying mother sent him: she urges him to return to his village to see his mother before she dies. A flashback reveals that Jongikhaya has been disowned by his mother after he drowned his brother during an argument. Later, the bored police officers decide to go to the cigarette factory to see the girls. Carmen is piqued when Jongikhaya reads his Bible and ignores her. She flirts with him and throws a rose into his car.
Le film se déroule dans l'univers d'Arborea. Aïda est la princesse d'un peuple qui vit dans les arbres, en harmonie avec la nature. Un jour, ils sont attaqués par les armées du royaume de Petra, dont la civilisation est fondée sur la technologie et vit dans d'immenses bâtiments de pierre. Aïda est faite prisonnière en défendant son royaume, mais le fils du roi de Petra, Radames, tombe amoureux d'elle. Tous deux s'efforcent alors de rétablir la paix.

Le film respecte à la lettre le scénario de l'opéra Madame Butterfly de Puccini. Comme dans l'œuvre lyrique l'action se passa au Japon au début du XX siècle.
