Alexandre Selkirk est un jeune marin qui navigue à bord de l’Esperanza sous les ordres du capitaine Bullock. S'étant attiré les foudres de l'équipage, il est trahi et abandonné par ses compagnons sur une île isolée au milieu de l'océan. Il apprend à y survive seul au milieu d'une nature luxuriante.
Tidewater, Virginia 1808. The story begins at sea with the main protagonist, Crusoe (Aidan Quinn), en route to Africa to retrieve slaves. His ship runs into a powerful storm, and the entire crew perishes except for Crusoe. He eventually makes his way to a tropical island, where he is alone and stranded until he discovers that a dog and a small flock of geese have also survived. He befriends the dog, and gains a close ally. He initially encounters many challenges, but eventually manages to make himself at ease on the island. Later he finds a rifle inside the shipwreck, and, weapon in hand and dog by his side, begins exploring the island. After spending more time on the island, Crusoe stumbles upon a group of tribesmen who are indigenous to the area but not the island. He finds, to his horror, that they are cannibals.
A group of British schoolboys, living in the midst of a war, are evacuated from England. Their airliner is shot down by briefly glimpsed fighter planes and ditches near a remote island.

Mickey Hogan (Jackie Coogan) is an orphan cabin boy on a ship commanded by a cruel captain (Tom Santschi). His only friend is a black cat, called Man Friday. A storm shipwrecks Mickey on an island, where is made into a captive war god. The next island is run by a white man Adolphe Schmidt (Bert Sprotte), who lives there with his daughter Gretta (Gloria Grey).
On September 28, 1659, a ship founders. The captain's daughter and cabin boy, Robin Crusoe (Amanda Blake), and a sailor named Sykes reach a deserted island. When Sykes tries to force Robin to show her appreciation for his efforts, she flees up a hill. In the ensuing struggle, he falls over a cliff and is killed.
When Jack Robinson gets a new job in Australia, he decides to take his wife Ann, sons Shane and Todd and daughter Elisabeth 'Lizzy' by sailing yacht from Hong Kong to Sydney. The gun he gets thrown in by Sheldon Blake proves disabled, and for a sinister reason: near Borneo, Blake's men turn up to capture them. The family escapes but loses the yacht on a reef. They build a camp on an island. But the pirates keep coming back, and the boys discover why: he hid a treasure in the yacht. Shane is also discovered and captured in more than one way by French plane wreck survivor Françoise, a French-speaking Asian girl and airplane crash survivor who has been surviving on the island since her airplane crashed. Upon the Robinsons being formally introduced to Françoise, she later teams up with the family.
Commander Christopher "Kit" Draper (Paul Mantee) and Colonel Dan McReady (Adam West) reach the Red Planet in their spaceship, Mars Gravity Probe 1. They are forced to use up their remaining fuel in order to avoid an imminent collision with a large orbiting meteoroid; they descend in their one-man lifeboat pods, becoming the first humans on Mars.
Robinson Crusoé s'échoue sur une île déserte après un naufrage, il fait la rencontre de Vendredi, qu'il tente de convertir à la civilisation occidentale. Mais la confrontation entre les deux hommes est des plus difficiles, Robinson est violent à l'égard de Vendredi et le traite en esclave. Au fil des années, les relations entre les deux hommes se détériorent . Vendredi pousse son maître à construire un radeau et se rebelle contre son statut d'esclave. Robinson l'isole mais, dans l'incapacité de vivre seul, il lui propose un marché : il lui paiera désormais son travail...
Robinson Crusoe (Dan O'Herlihy), a third son with few prospects, goes to sea against his father's wishes. On a voyage from Brazil to Africa to collect slaves, a storm forces him to abandon ship. He swims alone to a deserted island somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean on September 30, 1659.
The film opens to a fictionalized Daniel Defoe being offered to read a castaway's autobiography. He grudgingly obliges and begins to get engrossed in the narrative.
