Babu is a care-taker in a mental hospital who shows much devotion to his job unlike other employees and more affection towards the patients in the hospital. He wears the patients' dress and moves with them like one among them. Due to this nature the Chief Doctor, also a priest Father, likes him very much than others fetching Babu the enmity of two compounders in the hospital. One of the financial donors of the hospital brings a wandering girl to hospital suspecting that she is mentally ill. Since nobody knows about her anything and she is a mentally challenged the hospital admits her. Babu moves with the girl like he moves with all other patients but shows more affection than others as she does not have anybody to take care. The employees watch with curiosity and spin stories on them. Babu names the girl as Meenakshi and calls her Meenu. One of the two compounders tries to rape a mentally challenged girl and Meenu makes snake alert to stop it which fetches everybody. This angers the compounder and he gives electric shock. Babu rescues Meenu and complains to Father resulting in the suspension of the compounder and his friend. Babu now makes more care for her and spends more time with her.
Shekar (Prabhu) becomes mentally ill after his girlfriend Anita (Lizy) dies because of an electric short circuiting accident during a rock concert. Shekar is admitted into an institution managed by Nagaraj (Senthamarai).
Dr. Kyi Thar (Myat Lay), who works at the intensive-care unit, Mental Health Hospital, Yangon, and the patient Ma Htar Htar (Myat Mon), an elder sister of a friend. They met for the very first time on his duty. Though the friend¹s family was from Mandalay, they came to Yangon, to Dr. Kyi Thar to take the medical treatment with great expectations. They were right as she was getting much better as time went by and in their relationship too. Both of them knew they were deeply in love, attached to each other without mentioning a thing. It was the patient, who tried to start a new beginning of their close relationship on the day they went out together. However, he severed relations with her against his will as he thought it was the best thing to do. He just tried to keep his morals as a doctor. But their separation left her with the feeling of deep hurt instead. She got worse when they met again after some time. The poor patient asked again her beloved doctor to go out together with a pat expression, "let's go out, anywhere!".
The movie opens in a mental institution where a girl named Su-mi is being treated for shock and psychosis. She is questioned by a doctor who asks if she can speak about the day that led her to being admitted to the hospital.

When Dr. Peter Morgan (Kiefer Sutherland) begins his medical internship at a Veteran's Administration hospital, he expects to breeze through on his way to a cushy practice. Asylum is set in Britain in the early 1950s. It tells the story of Stella Raphael (Natasha Richardson), the bored and unfulfilled wife of Max (Hugh Bonneville), a psychiatrist working at a remote mental asylum. Stella starts a passionate affair with Edgar (Marton Csokas), one of the patients. Edgar is particularly dangerous, having gruesomely murdered his wife in a jealous rage.
