Abhi Bhattacharya (1921–1993) was an Indian actor of Hindi and Bengali cinema, who is most remembered for his roles in films in 50s and the 60s, such as Yatrik (1952), Jagriti (1954), Anuradha (1960) and Subarnarekha (1965). In his illustrious career he worked with noted directors like Ritwik Ghatak, Guru Dutt, Bimal Roy and Satyen Bose.
He made his film debut in 1947, with Bombay Talkies film, Naukadubi based on a novel by Rabindranath Tagore, and directed by Nitin Bose. Later in life, around 1971, he turned to spirituality, through his association with Dadaji (whose name as a householder was Shri Amiya Roy Chowdhury). He wrote a book, narrating his realisations from experiences with Dadaji, titled Destiny with Dadaji. Late in his career he acted in many mythological films. He played a negative role in Memsaab starring Vinod Khanna and Yogita Bali and in 'Ishq par Zor Nahin' starring Biswajeet, Sadhna and Dharmendra. He played the role of Lord Vishnu in many films like Tulsi Vivah, Vishnu Puran, Hari Darshan & Kisaan aur Bhagwan and as Krishna in 'Mahabharat'.

Sita Sinha (Sushma Seth) has brought up her son, Bihari and his friend, Amar as her own. The three are very close to each other. Sunil Verma is asked by his boss to impersonate dead Ashok Saxena & steal secret national documents, jewels, gold statues from Devigarh estate. Ashok (race car driver) is the younger brother of Rani Gayatri Saxena's dead husband who was the high commissioner in Manila. In Devigarh only Gayatri knows Ashok by face. Sunil has been briefed well by his boss. Ashok's picture with Gayatri has been replaced by Sunil's. She is unable to prove that Sunil is a fake & asks Sheela (Ashok's ex-fiance) to come as she too knows Ashok by face. Sheela & her father are stopped on their way to Devigarh by Sunil's boss with his subordinates. She is asked to travel alone with Sunil's colleague as driver & identify Sunil as Ashok else her father would be in trouble. Sheela obliges & the driver stays back in Devigarh. Sunil matches Ashok's racing skills. Gayatri is frustrated. Rest needs to be seen.

Anmol (Rakesh Roshan) and Sunita (Lakshmi) are a happily married couple. However, Sunita has a serious heart condition. She could risk a dangerous operation or live only a few more years. Her medical condition could get worse if she ever gets pregnant. She falls in love with an orphan named Bhavana and wants to adopt her. But her husband wants Sunita to get better, so they can have their own children. He doesn't care about Bhavana and gets upset with her over her childlike behavior, but when she runs away from home, he goes after her and asks her to come home. Together, they convince Sunita to have the risky operation, from which she recovers. Anmol and Sunita adopt Bhavana, and they all live happily ever after.
