He has performed numerous roles on live-action television since the 1960s, and has had an active career doing voice work in cartoons since the 1970s.
Oppenheimer was born in New York City, New York on April 23, 1930, the son of Irene (née Rothschild) and Louis E. Oppenheimer, who was a stockbroker. He is the third cousin of J. Robert Oppenheimer.

He was married to costume designer Marianna Elliott, with whom he had three children. The couple divorced but then remarried many years later in 1992, until her death in 2003. He was married to professional tennis player Marilyn Greenwood between marriages. That union ended in divorce.

Olympic wrestling champion Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) speaks at an elementary school in place of his older brother, Dave (Mark Ruffalo). Both are Olympic gold medal winners, but Mark feels overshadowed by Dave. Mark is contacted by philanthropist and wrestling enthusiast John E. du Pont (Steve Carell), an heir to the E.I. du Pont family fortune, who arranges to fly Mark to his estate in Pennsylvania where du Pont has built a private wrestling training facility. Du Pont invites Mark to join his wrestling team, Team Foxcatcher, to train for the World Championship and be paid. Mark accepts the offer, with du Pont urging him to enlist Dave as well. Dave declines for the sake of his wife and two children who are settled where they live, so Mark moves to Pennsylvania alone.

Prior to the events of the film, a scientist is ordered by his dictator to create a machine in the apparent name of progress. The Scientist uses his own intellect to create the B.R.A.I.N., a thinking robot. However, the dictator quickly seizes it and integrates it into the Fabrication Machine, an armature that can construct an army of war machines to destroy the dictator's enemies. Lacking a soul, the Fabrication Machine becomes corrupted and decides to exterminate almost all life on Earth. The Fabrication Machine reprograms the other war machines to turn against humans by using toxic gas and chemical weapons. On the verge of destruction, the Scientist uses alchemy to create nine homunculus-like rag dolls known as "Stitchpunks" using portions of his own soul via a talisman and dies upon finishing the last one.

Since his last encounter against Batman, Mr. Freeze has found a home in the Arctic and started a family (of sorts) with the still cryogenically-encased Nora, an Inuit boy named Kunac, and two pet polar bears, Hotchka and Shaka. Nora's condition begins to rapidly deteriorate due to a submarine accidentally emerging from underwater directly underneath them, shattering her containment vessel. Freeze returns to Gotham City with his companions. He enlists the help of Dr. Gregory Belson to find a cure. Set in 1905 (the year the Little Nemo comic strip premiered in the New York Herald), the film opens with the young boy Nemo experiencing a nightmare in which he is pursued by a locomotive. Upon awakening the next day, he goes to see a parade welcoming a traveling circus. However, Nemo is unable to see the circus because his father and his mother are too busy to take him. Later that night, Nemo imitates sleepwalking in an attempt to sneak some pie away, which acts against a promise he had made earlier to his mother. Upon falling asleep that night, Nemo is approached by figures from the parade. The circus organist introduces himself as Professor Genius and claims that they had been sent on a mission by King Morpheus, the king of a realm named Slumberland. The mission involves Nemo becoming the playmate of the princess, Camille. Although Nemo initially has reservations about interacting with royalty of the opposite gender, he decides to set off to fulfill his mission after being persuaded with a gift box of cookies from the princess.

The film tells the story of the original discovery of Kerium (a fictional ore that serves as the main plot element of the TV series), and of how protagonist Bravestarr first opposed Tex Hex (an outlaw) and his master Stampede (an evil spirit) on the planet of New Texas. It also introduces his allies: J.B. McBride (a female judge), Thirty/Thirty (a belligerent cyborg stallion capable of assuming a bipedal stance), Deputy Fuzz (one of the indigenous people of New Texas), and the Shaman (Bravestarr's mentor). At the beginning of the story, the Shaman establishes himself on New Texas, to challenge Stampede, who earlier destroyed the shaman's nation in the attempt to absorb a metaphysical power owned by them: vaguely described, but identified as the source of the shaman's magic, and exploited by his people as a fuel-source. Soon afterward, Stampede acquires Tex-Hex and his sidekick Skuzz as assistants; and these, in turn, assemble a gang of robbers. Distraught by their depredations, the colonists of New Texas demand the installation of a 'Planetary Marshal' to police their colony; and protagonist 'Bravestarr' (the shaman's protege) is appointed, alongside Judge J.B. McBride. At their first encounter, Bravestarr humiliates Tex-Hex, who in turn separates him from the colony. In search of him, J.B. is attacked by highwaymen, but rescued by the 'Prairie People': a species of anthropoid marmot, native to New Texas, but hitherto ignored by the colonists. Soon, she befriends the Prairie People, and they accept her authority. Meanwhile, Bravestarr reconnects with the Shaman, and acquires a new partner in Thirty/Thirty. Ultimately, Stampede sends an army of undead monsters against the colony; but these are repelled by the joint efforts of Bravestarr, Thirty/Thirty, J.B., and the Prairie People, whereas Stampede and Tex-Hex are banished by the Shaman's energized staff. In conclusion, Bravestarr, Thirty/Thirty, J.B., and Bravestarr's deputy 'Fuzz' ride to Starr Peak (the Shaman's sanctuary) to converse with him in safety.
