Alex Scott (born 1929) is an Australian-British television actor best known for his appearances in British television productions of the 1960s, including The Avengers, Danger Man, The Saint and the final episode ("The Smile Behind the Veil", 1969) of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased).

He made over 60 appearances on British TV between 1955 and the 1990s but moved back to Australia in 1981. Since his return to Australia he has had roles in the films Next of Kin, Sky Pirates, Now and Forever, Romper Stomper and Remembering Nigel. Alex had been a founding member of the Melbourne Theatre Company and has worked in theatre, television and film since his return. He played opposite Zoe Caldwell, another founding member and four-time Tony Award winning actor, in the Melbourne Theatre Company's A Visit in 2003 as a part of the 50th-anniversary season of the company. He also appeared in A Number, a play by Caryl Churchill and directed by Frank Howson, in 2006. In the film Remembering Nigel, he was again directed by Howson.

Scott has also had roles in such films as Darling (1965), Fahrenheit 451 (1966), The Blue Max (1966), The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971), Twins of Evil (1971) and The Asphyx (1972), and has been directed by Sir Laurence Olivier (The Shifting Heart), François Truffaut (The Sword in the Web), John Sumner (Godsend) and John Schlesinger, among others.

He grew up in Ballarat, Victoria, and was educated at St Patrick's College, Ballarat; Xavier College in Melbourne; and the University of Melbourne. He is married to Barbara Ady Potger, cousin of Keith Potger of the singing group The Seekers. He lives in Toorak, Victoria, and has two sons, Rainer and Daniel, and a stepdaughter Rebecca.

1945: World War II is about to come to an end. Meanwhile, the Australian military has come across that a certain ancient device which can be used to travel in time. It is imperative that the Allies have it and the Axis powers don't. The experienced aviator Lt. Harris gets assigned to transport the precious item to Washington, D.C.. On his plane are also Rev. Mitchell, Mitchell's lovely daughter Melanie, Gen. Hackett and Major Savage. During the flight the power of the magic cargo makes the laws of nature fade, hereby causing a tremendous tempest which leaves Harris no other choice than to ditch the aircraft. In rescue boats they discover a weird and misty area full of wrecked ships of different eras. Rev. Mitchell claims there was a connection to the so-called Philadelphia Experiment. Harris remains unimpressed and concentrates on the survival of Melanie and his crew, even for the price of immolating the arcane freight against Savage's explicit orders. Back home Savage has Harris sentenced for insubordination by a military court. Harris escapes and seeks to unveil the background of these occurrences. He beseeches Rev. Mitchell's daughter Melanie to team up with him. Together they strive to retrieve the lost magic item. They disclose and confound Savage's hidden agenda before they become a happy couple.

Dr. Anton Phibes (Vincent Price) was an expert in theology and music who was supposedly killed in a car crash in 1921, shortly after the death of his beloved wife, Victoria, during an operation. However, he survived the crash, horribly scarred by the accident and left unable to speak, forcing him to remake his face with prosthetics and use his knowledge of acoustics to regain his voice.
