Friedrich Alexander Kerst (né le 23 février 1924 à Kralupy nad Vltavou, mort le 9 décembre 2010 à Munich) est un acteur autrichien.

Biography

Alexander Kerst apprend l'art dramatique au Max Reinhardt Seminar à Vienne, auprès de Fred Liewehr. Après des premiers engagements au Burgtheater et au Volkstheater à Vienne, il se rend en 1954 après Kassel et Wuppertal au Kammerspiele de Munich où il est membre de l’ensemble de 1957 à 1960.

Suivi par d'autres engagements sur les scènes de théâtre en Allemagne avec des metteurs en scène comme August Everding, Hans Schweikart, Karl-Heinz Stroux, Peter Beauvais, Hans Lietzau, Fritz Umgelter.

À Vienne, il fonde le Kleine Theater im Konzerthaus avec Helmut Qualtinger et Michael Kehlmann.

En 1952, il vient au cinéma et travaille avec des réalisateurs comme Robert Siodmak, John Frankenheimer et Frank Wisbar. Il tourne aussi pour la télévision avec des réalisateurs comme Falk Harnack, Rolf von Sydow, Michael Braun, Helmuth Ashley ou Jürgen Roland.

En plus du théâtre et des tournages, Alexander Kerst se consacre aux programmes de récitation et de lectures, avec des textes d'Erich Kästner, Ludwig Thoma, Ovide, Eduard Mörike et Friedrich Schiller, sur des scènes ou pour la Bayerischen Rundfunk, l'ORF et Carl Hanser Verlag.

Alexander Kerst est le cousin du chanteur lyrique Paul Wolfrum.

Like in the books Malko is a nobleman whose family bequeathed him a huge castle and an aristocratic appearance but no sufficient means to sustain the inherited premises or to keep up the appropriate life style. This time it is the castle's roof that requires work and forces Malko to accept another CIA mission. The secret service is worried about rumours which endanger the US-American reputation. It was brought to the CIA's notice that a former collaborator named Enrique Chacon (Raimund Harmstorff) allegedly went rogue in San Salvador. Malko is supposed to investigate Chacon over the atrocities of death squads and then do whatever seems fit against the background of his findings. So he travels to San Salvador and goes about it. Soon he becomes a witness to the crimes of the death squads and eventually he has to realise how Chacon is indeed the driving force for all that. That leaves him no other choice than to render Chacon harmless for good before he can return to his castle and his fiancée, Countess Alexandra (Sybill Danning).

The young Wehrmacht Lieutenant Wisse is sent to serve as a liaison officer with the Romanian Army at Stalingrad. His new commander, Major Linkmann, is a rigid officer who looks down on their allies, contrary to Wisse. Soon after his arrival, the Red Army encircles the Germans, and they retreat into the city of Stalingrad. During the flight, Linkmann tries to abandon them. Wisse convinces a sergeant to ignore the orders obliging him to burn the supply depot, thus procuring provisions for the soldiers. In Stalingrad, he is again put under Linkmann's command. The tensions between them soar while their soldiers become desperate with hunger, as the 6th Army is ordered to hold on. Wisse is nearly captured by the Soviets, but a Russian woman whom he once helped leads him back to the German lines. Eventually, Linkmann tries to surrender by himself, but is shot dead by two of his own men. When the 6th Army commander, Field Marshal Friedrich Paulus, orders the remaining German troops in Stalingrad to surrender, Wisse and his soldiers are sent to a POW camp.

A thoughtful conversation in a bar while playing a game of billiards with an elderly French civilian affects him and his fellow pilots only briefly. A short time later, his unit is transferred to the Afrikakorps in the North African Theater of Operations. Marseille, thanks to his outstanding flying skill and talent, quickly becomes the most successful fighter pilot.
