Amrita Prakash is an Indian film actress and model. who has acted in both Bollywood and Malayalam films.
She began her Acting career when she was 4 years old. She has since, been seen in a myriad of Bollywood Films, TVCs and television reality and fiction shows.
Amrita started her career as a 4 year old, with advertising. Her first TVC was for a local footwear company in Kerala. After which, over the course of her childhood she did over 50 commercials for prominent brands including Rasna, Ruffles Lays, Glucon-D, Dabur, etc. She was the face of Lifebuoy Soaps packaging for over two years. More recently she has been seen in commercials for Sunsilk, Gitts Processed Foods, etc.
Her stint with television started when she was 9 years old with a drama show in which she played Gautami Gadgil's niece. Right after which she bagged her own show at 11years of age- Fox Kids on Star Plus. She was seen anchoring Fox Kids, a cartoon show on Star Plus for about 5 years, making her character of Miss India hugely popular, especially amongst the kids.
She however became the country's sweetheart with her first film in 2002- Anubhav Sinha's Tum Bin, where she played the pivotal part of Milli. Her performance was loved and appreciated and she went on to get nominated as Best Child Artiste in several Lobbies.
Post Tum Bin, Amrita continued with television. When she was 14, she was chosen to be part of India's first Reality Show titled Kya Masti Kya Dhoom which she co-anchored alongside Bollywood Actress sonali Bendre for over two years.
She went on to do various television series and dramas through her adolescence, along with her academics. Amongst others, she worked on tv shows like CATS- Sony, Smriti- Star Plus, Koi Apna Sa- Zee TV, Kya Haadsa Kya Haqeeqat, Star Bestsellers- Star Plus, Rishtey- Sony, Saath Phere- Zee TV, Yeh Meri Life Hai- Sony. Her last television drama, where she played one of the lead protagonists Sanskriti was Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai for Zee TV before she took a break from television.
At 16, she went on to do her most critically acclaimed work yet far. A Malayalam Film- Manjupoloru Penkutty directed by Kamal. The story focused around a 16-year-old school girl in Kerala who was tormented by and rose against her sexually abusive father. The film dealt with a real issue and made waves for its bold subject through the Southern Industry. It was later dubbed and re-released in more languages across the Southern States, including Kannada and Telegu. Amrita's work in the film brought her accolades and critical fame and she was nominated by the State for the National Awards as Best Actress.
Amrita has mentioned in her interviews that as a Performer, being nominated for the National State Awards has been the most gratifying point in her career.
She went on to do one of her most defining roles with Rajshri Films, playing the character of Chotti in Sooraj Barjatya's Vivah.
The character of Chotti was that of a dark skinned girl, and brought forth the prejudices and misogyny within the country that is extended towards darker skin over fairer skin. Her performance in Vivaah was hugely appreciated by critics and the audience and she was nominated for Best Supporting Role through various Lobbies.
Amrita has repeatedly been quoted saying- "Vivaah was one amongst the biggest milestones and turning points of my career. I cannot be grateful enough to him Sooraj Barjatya for being the teacher and guide he has been to me through and since the film. Amrita went on to work with Rajshri Films post Vivaah and played the character of Sandhya in their next venture Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi. She played a small part in Dharma Productions We Are Family and continued with Bollywood Films and more work in the South.
Amrita again took a break from acting to complete her education. She holds a Master's Degree in Commerce and Business Administration from The University of Mumbai.
After her Masters she took up the show Ek Rishta Aisa Bhi for Sony Pal. She played the lead protagonist, Dipika on the show. The show went ended in March 2015.

Ek Vivaah... Aisa Bhi is the story of Chandni (Isha Koppikar) who belongs to a middle-class family living in Bhopal and Prem (Sonu Sood) who is an unconventional ghazal singer and hails from an upper-middle-class family. Chandni and Prem meet to practice for a Ghazal competition and fall in love. On the day of their wedding Chandni's dad dies leaving her younger brother and younger sister dependent on Chandni herself. Initially Chandni decides to leave the house and her siblings under the care of her uncle- however when she realizes that her unscrupulous uncle and aunt want only the house and care two hoots about her siblings, she decides to bring them up herself. Prem promises to wait for her and keeps assisting her in all her troubles- while at the same time having become a prominent & famous ghazal singer.

Poonam (Amrita Rao) is a middle class girl who lives in the small town of Madhupur. After the death of her parents, when she was very young, her uncle Krishnakant (Alok Nath) fulfilled the void of a father in her life. The wealthy Malhotra family consists of dad, Vikram, his wife, and son, Raj. They would like Raj to get married to their friend, Ishwarchand Mangatram Gore's only U.S. based daughter, Simran. Ajay (Sohail Khan) is head of his college gang named Aryans. A girl named Ayesha (Sameera Reddy) to which Ajay is introduced and become friends. Gradually, Ajay and Ayesha falls in love with each other. This enrages Ayesha's father (Kabir Bedi) because of his status. Ajay challenges to get Ayesha back to him in nick time. Mr.Verma's friend and business partner Chopra (Dalip Tahil) too gets enraged and decides to finish off Ajay, but Chopra has an ulterior motive, Chopra's son (Raja Bherwani) to get married by Ayesha only to get Verma family's wealth. So Chopra appoints a notorious criminal Bhaijaan (Sanjay Dutt) to finish off Ajay. But Bhaijaan refuses as he do not do any wrong deeds in month of Ramadan. So Bhaijaan appoints his two head henchmen Munna (Rajpal Yadav) & Chhote (Sarfaraz Khan). Ajay at first empowers them during a fight but no sooner the formers appoint a gang to beat up Ajay brutally and left him dead on streets. Soon Ajay recovers from his injuries and enters Verma's mansion. An enraged Ajay challenges Verma to get back Ayesha at any cost. Verma too keeps a condition, if within 24 hours he didn't get back to Ayesha, he will have to get out of her life forever. Ajay accepts this deal. Chopra again plans a conspiracy and arrests Ajay without any crime. The police inspector (Aashif Sheikh) first beats Ajay and the inspector gets equally beaten up brutally and Ajay runs from the jail. Now Chopra calls Chhote to kill Ajay and promises to give him loads of money but Chhote replies that Ramadan is ended and Bhaijaan will finish Ajay. This conversation gets taped by Ayesha's little sister. Ajay gets surrounded by henchmen and knocks each one but interrupted by Bhaijaan. Just before Bhaijaan is about to kill Ajay, the former says he is a lover and will die once. This made Bhaijaan save Ajay. The reason was Bhaijaan had a brother Irfan who committed suicide because Bhaijaan didn't care for his feelings. During Eid ul Fitr Bhaijaan thanks Allah for giving a boy like Ajay in turn of his deceased brother and decides to help him. The very day, Ajay arrives to the Verma's mansion within 24 hours and decides to stop the wedding of Raman and Ayesha. Bhaijaan, who has a change of heart and helps him but soon interrupted by Chhote. Chhote disobeys Bhaijaan and soon a fight ensues. Bhaijaan requests Ajay to go but he is beaten up badly. Ajay, interrupts wedding and points gun on Verma. Soon Ajay and Ayesha gets married. Just about Verma is about to kill Ajay, Mini plays the tape of the deal to her father and soon Chopra and Raman are kicked off. Bhaijaan kills all the henchmen and finally slits Munna and Chhote with a sword. The film ends on a happy note with Ayesha and Ajay are united and Bhaijaan reconciles with Ajay.
