Anant Mahadevan, also credited as Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, is a screenwriter, actor, and director of Hindi and Marathi films and television serials in India. Having been an integral part of the Indian television serials and Hindi movies since the 1980s, he is also actively involved in the professional English and Hindi theatre. Ananth along with Sanjay Pawar received the National Award (2010) for the Best Screenplay and Dialogues for the successful Marathi movie Mee Sindhutai Sapkal'. The Marathi film " Mee Sindhutai Sapkal " also fetched him the special jury award at the National Film awards 2010.
His latest film Gour Hari Dastaan was part of the Indian Panorama at the International Film Festival of India (2014) Goa, at the International Film Festival of Kerala IFFK (2014), the International Film Festival of Bangalore, and the International Film Festival of Chennai (2014). He next film Rough Book has already created enough excitement at the festival circuit and the Film Bazaar recently held at Goa.

Suyambulingam is a honest and hard working cable operator who along with his assistant Sermadurai (Sree Raam) watches movies through the TV every night and returns home in the morning. Two actresses, Zara Fernandes and Chandni Roy, are both set to make their film debut on the same date. Chandni's film becomes a box office success, whereas Zara's film is a flop. John Day is a bank manager of Royal Citizen Co-operative Bank and lives with his wife Maria Day. The couple has recently lost their only daughter in a forest fire accident while she was on a trip with her boyfriend. Maria is always depressed and never opens up with anyone. One day when John is away for office work, a courier-boy enters the house and takes Maria as a captive. He then calls up John informing him about his wife is a hostage and tells him that a man will visit him at his bank and John has to do his work. It is shown that actually it was a planned bank heist where the visitor gagged John, opened up the cash locker and fled, meanwhile the kidnapper hammered Maria causing her a serious brain damage and she got admitted to the hospital in a state of coma.
