Anita Garvin (1907–1994) est une actrice américaine connue pour ses apparitions dans les films de Laurel et Hardy et auprès de Charley Chase.

Biography

Anita Garvin naît sur la Côte Est des États-Unis et déménage enfant en Californie.

Elle débute au cinéma en 1924 à l'âge de 17 ans et très vite rencontre Stan Laurel aux côtés duquel elle tourne ainsi que dans les films que ce dernier réalise. Lorsque le duo Laurel et Hardy est constitué, elle leur donne la réplique à de nombreuses reprises. Elle y joue les femmes de la haute société ou les épouses acariâtres.

Parallèlement, elle tourne souvent avec Charley Chase ou James Finlayson. En 1928 elle est l'une des protagonistes d'un duo comique féminin avec Marion Byron que les Studios Hal Roach tentent d'imposer sur le modèle de Laurel et Hardy.

En 1930, elle épouse le chef d'orchestre Clifford « Red » Stanley et tourne de moins en moins pour se consacrer à sa vie de famille.

Anita Garvin décède en 1994 à l'âge de 87 ans.

Stan and Ollie are down to their last six bucks and call a lift to a job agency to find work. A City Water Dept. truck driver offers them a lift and drenches them with water as a joke and leaves them behind. They finally arrive in a badly damaged car that has been towed away. At the job agency a call comes from Mrs. Vandeveer looking for a maid and butler to help at a dinner party she is holding that night. Ollie tells the receptionist they can fill the post and to leave it to them. They arrive and Stan is dressed in drag, pretending to be the maid "Agnes".

The Stooges are unsuccessful fish salesmen. After becoming fed up with it all, they decide to go into the saloon business.
