Antônio da Silva Fagundes Filho (About this sound Antônio Fagundes ) (born April 18, 1949 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a Brazilian actor, renowned after several performances in theater, film and television.

Biography

Fagundes was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro but moved with his parents to São Paulo at the age of eight and has lived there for over 30 years. He discovered his gift for the theater from the setting of stage plays made in the Rio Branco School, where he studied. He debuted on television in 1969 on the soap opera Nenhum Homem é Deus, at TV Tupi. Fagundes began on Rede Globo in 1976, on the telenovela Saramandaia. He also served for several years as protagonist of the series Carga Pesada, from 1979 to 1981, and from 2003 to 2007. The actor has four children: one (Bruno Fagundes), with his ex-wife Mara Carvalho, the other three (Dinah Abujamra Fagundes, Antonio Fagundes Neto and Diana Fagundes Abujamra), fruits of his 15-year marriage to actress Clarisse Abujamra.

Doca (Otávio Müller), Danillo (Gabriel Braga Nunes), Carlinhos (Marcello Melo Jr.), Branco (Milhem Cortaz) and Samuel (Caio Blat) are five policemen working undercover at the Complexo do Alemão, an area which gathers several slums and is considered one of the most dangerous places in Rio de Janeiro. Their operation goes wrong after the government threatens to raid the place using military vehicles, which leads local drug lord Playboy (Cauã Reymond) to cut off all the slum's communications, leaving them unable to contact their boss, Samuel's father sheriff Valadares (Antonio Fagundes) and forcing them to hide at the basement of Doca's pizzeria, which serves as their base of operations. Their situation is worsened when Valadares' assistant Pixixo (Izak Dahora) is almost killed by Playboy's men and drops a briefcase containing details on all the policemen infiltrated in the slums.

A boarding school only for girls is decreed to be closed by the state. Japan, 1908. Motivated by poverty in the country and few job prospects, many Japanese have emigrated in search of opportunities. As the emigration company only accepted family groups who had at least a couple, Yamada (Jiro Kawarazaki) and Kobayashi (Keniti Kaneko) who were brothers, see as solution that Yamada would marry Titoe (Kyoko Tsukamoto), who was only 16 years old. Yamada and Titoe had just met and, along with a cousin, they depart to Brazil. After 52 days of travel they finally arrive in Brazil where they will work in Santa Rosa farm, in São Paulo, where the coffee expansion was intense. But they stumble upon a foreman who handles hostile settlers, demanding to work to exhaustion. In addition they are stolen by the owners of the farm, only being treated with respect by other settlers and by Tonho (Antônio Fagundes), the counter of the farm.
