Ariane Labed (born 8 May 1984) is a Greek-born French actress. She made her feature film debut in Attenberg (2010), for which she won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress. Later, she appeared in Alps (2011) and Before Midnight (2013). In 2014, she starred in several short films such as High and Dry and played the leading role of Alice in the film Fidelio, Alice's Odyssey, for which she was nominated the César Award for Most Promising Actress. In 2015, she appeared in The Forbidden Room and in The Lobster.
Biography
Ariane Labed was born in 1984 in Athens, to French parents. She grew up between Greece, Germany and France. After studying dance for 10 years, she studied "Practice and Theory of Art" at Université de Provence. A founding member of Vasistas Theatre Company, she has acted in all their performances.
Labed was awarded the Coppa Volpi for the Best Actress at the 67th Venice International Film Festival for her performance in Attenberg, directed by Athina Rachel Tsangari, which was her first film experience. She stars in the upcoming film Alps, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.
