Atsuko Tanaka (田中 敦子, Tanaka Atsuko, born November 14, 1962 in Maebashi, Gunma) is a Japanese voice actress associated with Mausu Promotion (formerly Ezaki Productions). Her most-known voice role is Motoko Kusanagi in the Ghost in the Shell film and franchise. She also voices Caster in the Fate/stay night, Lisa Lisa in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Claudette in Queen's Blade, and Karura in Utawarerumono. In video games, she voices title characters Lara Croft in the Japanese dub of the Tomb Raider games, and Bayonetta in the Bayonetta: Bloody Fate film adaptation and Bayonetta 2. She studied with the Tokyo Announcement Academy in voice training in 1991. In 2012, a Biglobe poll named her the voice actress with the sexiest voice.

The film opens as the Earth Flagship "Blue Noah" leads the first Emigration Fleet to Amare. Suddenly, thousands of unidentified ships appear and open fire. Shûhei Amamiya est un garçon de bonne famille dont le rêve est de devenir un grand pianiste, comme son père. Un jour, il déménage de Tokyo pour aller vivre quelque temps chez sa grand-mère malade. In 2034, two years after the events of 2nd GIG, Public Security Section 9 is investigating a string of mysterious suicides by refugees from the Siak Republic. Chief Aramaki conducts a raid to arrest the refugee dictator only to find him already dead. In retaliation, a Siak operative plans a terrorist attack with a micromachine virus. Batou is sent to intercept the Siak operative and encounters Kusanagi, who is conducting her own investigation. Before they can apprehend the operative, he dies while attacking them. Kusanagi takes a case of virus ampules and warns Batou to stay away from the Solid State Society before leaving.
