In 1840, a girl named Amiran (Bansree Mandhani) is kidnapped from her home in Faizabad by Dilawar Khan (Vishwajeet Pradhan) who had been sent to jail based upon the evidence presented by Amiran's father. To take his revenge, he kidnaps Amiran and sells her to a brothel in Lucknow run by Khannum Jaan (Shabana Azmi). Bua Hussaini (Himani Shivpuri) and Maulvi Sahib (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) adopt Amiran and treat her as their own daughter. In the company of Khurshid (Ayesha Jhulka), Bismillah (Divya Dutta), and one of the courtesan's sons, Gauhar Mirza (Puru Raajkumar), Amiran learns the art of being a courtesan, or tawaif.

Jairam (Navdeep) is a son of rich widow (Ayesha Jhulka), whose husband was killed by Pakistanis in the war. As usual she neglects her son and busy in earning money for him in the business. Jairam falls in love with Farah (Santhoshi), he's a brilliant student also possesses high moral values and learn boxing from Farah’s father. Ayesha Julka holds the Indo-Pak Boxing match. India loses the match and the Pakistan champion challenges Indians saying that even after 56 years of independence Indians cannot stop Pakistanis from butchering the Indian army members. Hero challenges that he will win them in 56 days. Here comes the twist in the tale. The Pakistani boxer is none other than the ISI member sent by Lashkar-E-Toiba Chief Maulana Masood Azhar. When young Jai challenges them, they stoop like a film villains and fracture Jai’s ribs and tear the ligaments of his right hand, which he uses for his boxing. Afterwards jai challenges him and defeats him in a boxing match.

Under the directions of the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, the Indian Censor Board prepares a list of cuts for Bollywood film producer, Vikramjeet's new movie "Aane Wala Kal". Vikramjeet is unhappy and decides to meet the Minister himself to appeal against these cuts, only to find out that the Minister favors even more cuts. Then Vikramjeet shows this movie in a private theatre to an audience from all walks of life, he then takes their written opinion, smuggles a copy to America, just in time to ensure that it is nominated for an Oscar. This is where Vikramjeet's troubles start as the Censor Board refuses to grant a "U" certificate; he is arrested for smuggling the movie without permission from the Reserve Bank of India. The only way he can escape the wrath of the authorities is getting some fans and stars of his movie to gather some dirt on the Censor Board members and expose them publicly. But will this pacify the authorities, or will it aggravate the situation. Watch what the wily 80-year-old veteran does to try and show his movie uncut and with the "U" rating.
