Barbara Eden (born August 23, 1931) is an American film, stage, and television actress, comedienne, and singer. She is best known for her starring role of "Jeannie" in the sitcom I Dream of Jeannie.

Biography

Elle est la fille d'Alice Mary (née Franklin) et Hubert Henry Morehead. Ses parents divorcent quand elle a trois ans. Sa mère et Barbara déménagent à San Francisco où plus tard sa mère épouse Harrison Connor Huffman, un monteur de lignes de téléphone. La Grande Dépression affecte profondément la famille Huffman. Pour joindre les deux bouts, sa mère chante des chansons pour les enfants. Ces souvenirs musicaux laissent une impression durable sur elle qui prend elle-même des cours de théâtre pour pouvoir améliorer son chant.

Elle fait sa première représentation en public dans la chorale de l'église où elle peut interpréter quelques solos. À 14 ans, Elle chante dans les clubs de nuit avec des groupes locaux pour 10 $ la nuit. À l'âge de 16 ans, elle devient membre de l'Actors' Equity Association , étudie le chant au Conservatoire de musique de San Francisco et prend des cours de théâtre à l'École Elizabeth Holloway.

Elle est diplômée de Abraham Lincoln High School (San Francisco) dans la classe du printemps 1949. Elle prend par la suite des cours de théâtre pendant un an au City College de San Francisco.

En 1951, elle est élue Miss San Francisco. Elle participe également à l'élection de Miss Californie, mais ne remporte pas le titre.

Elle commence sa carrière sur les écrans en 1956. En 1965 elle signe un contrat avec Sidney Sheldon pour interpréter Jeannie dans la série 'I Dream of Jeannie' Jinny de mes rêves durant 5 ans et 139 épisodes. En 1990 elle joue dans 5 épisodes de Dallas.



Elle a écrit ses mémoires en 2011 "Jeannie Out of the Bottle". Elle a été mariée à trois reprises, avec Michael Ansara de 1958 à 1974, avec Charles Fegert de 1977 à 1982 et avec Jon Eicholtz depuis 1991.

Colonel Tony Nelson is on a top-secret space mission for NASA and Jeannie does not know of his whereabouts or when he'll be returning home to hear their son Tony Jr.'s academic presentation speech.
