Bill Edwards (September 14, 1918 – December 21, 1999) was an American film/television actor, championship rodeo rider, a (Smithsonian exhibited) multi talented artist and noted SCUBA diver.
Born in New Jersey, Edwards began drawing horses as a child and continued drawing as he grew up on a Wyoming ranch. From this lifestyle Bill was to become a championship rodeo rider. Broken bones brought his riding career to a halt, and the 6-foot-5 Bill Edwards became a model in New York City. An agent brought him to Hollywood in the early 1940s. He was under contract to Paramount Pictures for nearly a decade, after which he turned to art.
In addition to Western films, the blonde, blue-eyed Edwards had featured roles in "Our Hearts Were Young and Gay" and "Hail the Conquering Hero" - both released in 1944.
In the 1950s Edwards became a painter. He did illustrations for Hanna-Barbera and Disney as well as creating the artwork for numerous book and novel covers. Bill was commissioned by the United States Air Force Art Programto paint recruiting posters and paintings of Air Force planes and combat scenes. Several, such as one entitled "Generation Gap," were exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution, the Pentagon and a traveling Air Force exhibit. Bill had an illustrious career as an artist, and he became best known for his paintings of the Old West. His works were sold at numerous galleries throughout California and the Southwest, and many of his paintings of the Old West hang in private collections.
In January, 1946, Bill married the love of his life, Hazel Allen, to whom he was married for 53 years. Bill died December 21, 1999 at the age of 81 in Newport Beach of pneumonia caused by an illness that affected his muscular system. He was survived by his wife, Hazel, and his daughter, Linda Edwards.

In 1941, the newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto (Sō Yamamura) and his predecessor, Zengo Yoshida (Junya Usami), discuss America's embargo that starves Japan of raw materials. In 1885, Molly Wood (Barbara Britton) leaves the security (and dullness) of Vermont to be a schoolteacher in frontier Wyoming. On arrival, she becomes frightened by a spooked steer, and is "rescued" by the Virginian (Joel McCrea), only to discover the animal is so mild, it is a little girl's pet. As a result, she takes a strong dislike to the cowboy. He, on the other hand, is smitten with her. When Trampas (Brian Donlevy) voices his scurrilous speculation as to why she came west, the Virginian confronts him and forces him, at gunpoint, to take it back.

In the early days of World War II, Cohan comes out of retirement to star as President Roosevelt in the Rodgers and Hart musical I'd Rather Be Right. On the first night, he is summoned to meet the President at the White House, who presents him with a Congressional Gold Medal (in fact, this happened several years previously). Cohan is overcome and chats with Roosevelt, recalling his early days on the stage. The film flashes back to his supposed birth on July 4, whilst his father is performing on the vaudeville stage.
