A man frozen for 65 years is found in the ice of the North Pole by a scientific polar expedition. While he is brought back to life by professor Edouard Lauriebat (Michael Lonsdale), the man is identified as Paul Fournier, who was exploring the pole in 1905 and is now, thanks to hibernation, a 90 years old young man. Edmée de Tartas (Claude Gensac), born Fournier, is identified as the granddaughter of Paul and convinces her husband, Hubert Barrère de Tartas (Louis de Funès), that Paul must be given back to his family, while the government wishes to treat Paul as a research subject. After a kidnapping and a pursuit, the authorities reluctantly agree, but impose, for the sake of Paul's mental health, that his environment be the same as in 1905. As Paul thinks Edmée is his mother, Hubert must play the role of a man courting Edmée and Didier (Olivier de Funès), the son of Edmée and Hubert plays the role of a student living with the family. First under control, the situation gradually deteriorates especially when Paul's actions become a threat to Hubert's plan to marry his son to the daughter of Crepin-Jaujard, one of his business partners.

Journalist Fandor and commissaire Juve are invited to Scotland by Lord McRashley (played by Jean-Roger Caussimon). Lord McRashley, one of Fantômas' potential victims, uses his castle as the headquarters to set up a trap for the menace called Fantômas.

An elaborate bank robbery takes place and the gangsters succeed although the FBI had been warned. The bank president dies of a heart attack. Jerry Cotton, who is considered accountable for this major failure, loses his badge over this. Being the man he is, Cotton doesn't let the evil-doers forget that he has unfinished business with them. While leaving his flat in Paris for vacation, Antoine Maréchal has a car accident. His 2CV is totally wrecked by Léopold Saroyan's Bentley, the director of an import-export company. As a compensation for the accident, Saroyan offers Maréchal to drive his best friend's 1964 Cadillac DeVille from Naples to Bordeaux, all expenses paid. Unknown to Maréchal, Saroyan is the leader of a criminal organization and the Cadillac is filled with drugs, stolen gold and diamonds, including the largest diamond in the World, the Youkounkoun. Maréchal departs for his destination, oblivious of both his cargo and Saroyan who is discreetly following him to watch over the delivery.

The film is set during World War I, as Paris is expected to fall to the Germans. The Princesse de Bormes, a widow, helps wounded soldiers by evacuating them from the front and bringing them to her villa in Paris for medical care. However, the authorities will not give the Princess and the soldiers passes to return to Paris. The situation changes when an innocent 16-year-old boy, Guillaume Thomas de Fontenoy, joins the authorities and is mistaken as the nephew of the popular General de Fontenoy. Thomas is able to use his position of posing as the general's nephew to cut through the red tape, in order to help the Princess. She is entranced by Thomas, and her daughter, Henriette, falls in love with him. However, Thomas feels impelled to see more war action. Later, he is caught behind enemy lines when he is moved with a military unit into the heat of battle.

Serge, alias le comte Fornari (Paul Guers) est engagé par un mystérieux employeur afin de tenter de voler le Nabob, un diamant d'une valeur exceptionnelle que Jeannette, alias Aménita (Perrette Pradier), l'accompagnatrice d'un milliardaire (O. Sur le point d'être prise sur le fait elle le garde caché dans un mouchoir qu'elle tient à la main et réussit à le dissimiler dans la poche de Serge pendant le bal de l'hôtel. Quand elle rejoint le milliardaire, celui-ci lui demande d'ouvrir la main, mais le diamant n'y est plus. Va s'engager alors une course poursuite parsemée de quiproquos et de rebondissements entre les trois protagonistes.

Against her wealthy industrialist father Albert's wishes, young Virginie (Brigitte Bardot) marries dentist Hervé Dandieu (Henri Vidal).
