Brian Baumgartner (born November 29, 1972) is an American film and television actor who is best known for his role as Kevin Malone in The Office.
Biography
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Baumgartner attended Holy Innocents' Episcopal School, he attended and graduated high school at The Westminster Schools (before future Office co-star Ed Helms in 1992). He then attended Southern Methodist University before moving to Los Angeles and served as Artistic Director of Hidden Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he received multiple awards for artistic and acting excellence. In addition, Baumgartner performed regionally at the Guthrie Theater, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Children's Theater Company, and Theatre de la Jeune Lune. Baumgartner studied acting at the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University. His television roles are in Jake in Progress, Arrested Development and Everwood. He also acted as a talent scout on Last Comic Standing with his Office co-star Kate Flannery. He appears in the romantic comedy feature film License to Wed opposite Robin Williams, Mandy Moore, and Office co-star John Krasinski. In June 2007, Baumgartner won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Broadband Program - Comedy, for his work on The Office: Accountants webisodes. His co-stars Angela Kinsey and Oscar Nunez also shared the award. He was also featured in NBA 2K13 on the all star celebrity team. The story follows former punk rocker Perry (Billie Joe Armstrong) who is ten years into his band's "indefinite hiatus" and is struggling with his adjustment to the real world (which includes working in his family's hardware store). Olympic wrestling champion Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) speaks at an elementary school in place of his older brother, Dave (Mark Ruffalo). Both are Olympic gold medal winners, but Mark feels overshadowed by Dave. Mark is contacted by philanthropist and wrestling enthusiast John E. du Pont (Steve Carell), an heir to the E.I. du Pont family fortune, who arranges to fly Mark to his estate in Pennsylvania where du Pont has built a private wrestling training facility. Du Pont invites Mark to join his wrestling team, Team Foxcatcher, to train for the World Championship and be paid. Mark accepts the offer, with du Pont urging him to enlist Dave as well. Father John Buerlein (Jeremy Sisto) is the mild-mannered Catholic priest of a small parish in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Overworked and underpaid, he has grown jaded with the profession and has trouble connecting with his parishioners. During confession, a mysterious and unnamed prostitute (Kristin Chenoweth) confesses to a sin she has not yet committed: she plans to commit suicide on her birthday. Father John is taken aback. The confession ends abruptly, and he is unable to stop the woman before she disappears. He only knows she wears a crucifix and is an Aries, which means her birthday is soon.
