In roles with more visibility he plays Emilio, a kidnapper in The Lives of the Saints (2006), and Tony the sidekick in Pusher (2012). John May est un fonctionnaire communal qui vit seul. Son travail consiste à retrouver les parents les plus proches de personnes mortes dans une solitude totale. Un jour, on lui confie le cas de Billy Stoke, un alcoolique mort dans la solitude à quelques pas de sa propre maison. Il commence alors à recueillir des indices sur sa vie et à chercher les personnes auxquelles il a été lié. Mais, à cause de la crise économique, on lui fait savoir que son service est en passe d'être réduit, qu’il est en surnombre et va être licencié. Il ne se laisse pas abattre et convainc son chef de lui donner encore un peu de temps pour terminer sa dernière enquête. Pendant ses recherches, il fait la connaissance de Kelly, la fille que Billy Stoke a abandonnée dans son enfance et, au cours de ses voyages à la recherche des personnes qui ont connu Stoke, John a l'occasion de savourer à nouveau la vie. Cela ne durera pas longtemps et il mourra lui-même dans une solitude totale, comme tous ceux qu’il avait suivis pendant son travail, lesquels, dans un final onirique et fascinant, lui rendront un hommage reconnaissant.

Frank is a low-level cocaine dealer in England, conducting business with his partner Tony and would-be-girlfriend Flo. When a former cellmate contacts him for a large drug deal, Frank borrows £48,000 of cocaine from Milo, a dangerous Serbian drug lord. He promises to return to Milo with the money the next day, but police raid the deal and Frank is forced to dump the cocaine in a duck lake. In custody, Frank is told by police that Tony has confessed to the deal, but they release him the next day. Frank quickly finds Tony and beats him savagely with a baseball bat.

Jerome (Adam Deacon), is a successful young footballer, who in the midst of playing the most important season of his career. When he goes to visit his mom on the housing estate he grew up on, he accidentally bumps into some of his old childhood friends, lead by drug dealing loanshark and gangster Baron (David Ajala). Jerome offers to take the lads on a night out - but Baron, living in jealousy of Jerome's success, takes advantage of the situation and asks him for £10,000 to tide over his cashflow problem. Jerome agrees to give him the money, but no sooner does he do so, he finds that Baron has enlisted his younger brother Aaron (Liam Donnelly) to help him on a hit. When he confronts Baron, Baron informs him that in order to keep his brother safe, he will need to stump up another £10,000. Not realising that he is being blackmailed, Jerome agrees. A week later, Baron threatens him for more money. Realising that he is being taken for a mug, he enlists the help of his trainer Andy (Leo Gregory) to inform Baron that he won't be getting any more money. However, the warning soon backfires on Jerome when Baron trashes his car and attacks Andy with a knife, leaving him in intensive care. With no choice but to put a stop to Baron, Jerome arrives at his flat to confront him, only to be stabbed in the leg by Baron in the process. With time slowly running out, the arrival of one of Baron's heavies stops a fight between the two. Baron orders him to shoot Jerome, only for him to shoot Baron before running away. Jerome is left on the floor, breathing heavily.

After an increasing number of his clients fail to make good on their payments, Mr. Thigo (Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson) decides to take matters into his own hands, travelling to London to make an example of debtor Nick (Tamer Hassan). Nursery school teacher Jenny (Kelly Reilly) and her boyfriend, Steve (Michael Fassbender), escape their everyday life to an idyllic remote lake in the green English countryside. Along the way, they meet Adam (James Gandhi), a young boy who is reluctant to talk with them. Attempting to relax near a beach, their trip is disrupted by the presence of delinquent teenagers and their dog, but Steve intends to stay and not be driven away from enjoying their vacation. After they sleep overnight in their tent, problems begin to arise; their food is infested with insects and their car tire is damaged by a bottle left behind by the teens. Despite this, they are able to fix the tire and set off for town for breakfast at a cafe.
