Choi Dong-hoon (Hangul: 최동훈; born 1971) is a South Korean film director. He ranks as one of the most consistently successful directors working in contemporary Korean cinema, with all four of his films becoming commercial hits -- The Big Swindle attracted 2.12 million viewers, Tazza: The High Rollers had 5.68 million, Jeon Woo Chi sold 6.13 million tickets at the box office, and The Thieves is at 12.9 million.

Goni has lost his entire savings, and money stolen from his family, after being swindled by professional cheat gamblers. In order to regain the money, Goni begins training under one of the best gamblers in the country, Mr. Pyeong. Ne-mo is a thirteen-year-old boy growing up in 1980s South Korea, and is the only child of a single mother who runs a watch repair shop in their small town.
