Biography
Constantin Romanovich Bakaleinikov suit sa formation musicale au Conservatoire Tchaïkovski de Moscou. Il émigre aux États-Unis en 1926 pour échapper aux bolcheviques. Il est engagé comme chef d'orchestre à Hollywood, puis travaille en indépendant pour des producteurs avant d'être engagé par la RKO (1940- 19587). Bakaleinikoff a collaboré à la composition de plus de 40 musiques de film et dirigé les orchestres pour les bandes sonores de plus de 325 films ; les musiques étaient composées par Roy Webb compositeur attitré des studios. Il était marié avec l'actrice du cinéma muet Fritzi RidgewayBest films

A Russian defector lands a jet fighter aircraft on an American airstrip. Two men (Edmond O'Brien and Frank Lovejoy) from El Centro, California are driving toward a planned fishing trip at the Mexican town of San Felipe on the Gulf of California. Just south of Mexicali, they pick up a hitchhiker named Emmett Myers (William Talman), whose stolen car has apparently run out of gas. Myers turns out to be a psychopath who has committed multiple murders while hitch-hiking between Illinois and Southern California, and has managed to slip into Mexico at Mexicali. When longtime professional rodeo competitor Jeff McCloud (Robert Mitchum) is injured by a Brahma bull he was trying to ride, he decides to quit. He hitchhikes to his childhood home, a decrepit place now owned by Jeremiah (Burt Mustin). Run down as it is, it is the dream home for Wes Merritt (Arthur Kennedy) and his wife Louise (Susan Hayward). They are painstakingly saving up the money to buy it from Wes's meager wages as a cowhand. Wes recognizes Jeff as a once-prominent rodeo rider, and introduces himself, then helps Jeff gets a job at the same ranch.
