David Ackert is an Iranian-American actor, entrepreneur and business development coach. In parallel with his acting, he is the founder of The Ackert Advisory based in the San Fernando Valley, which has provided business development coaching and training for service firms since the late 1990s. He's known for his roles in Soldier of Fortune, Inc., The Young and the Restless, The Practice, Family Law and Walker Texas Ranger. He is routinely cast for roles engendering middle-eastern descent.

David has written for and contributed to over a dozen articles in publications including the LA Times, The National Review, and the Daily Journal, and been quoted in several trade publications and business books. He has participated on numerous panels and often lectures on the topic of business development, effective communication, and time management. He also teaches strategic planning and marketing courses through UCLA Extension.

He is the founder of Practice Boomers, a Your Honor Award-winning e-learning program that teaches business development, a recipient of the San Fernando Valley Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40 Leadership Award,” and the founder of the Growth Group, a chapter of Provisors, which caters to Los Angeles business professionals.

He blogs regularly for The Smartest Way to Get More Clients.

David’s avocational interests include fiction writing and theater. He has performed on stage at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and has appeared in several episodes of television shows such as Bones, CSI: Miami, Monk, Six Feet Under and The West Wing as well as films such as This Is Not a Test, La Linea and Maryam.

He is a published science fiction author. His short stories, co-authored with Benjamin Rosenbaum, have appeared in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction and Realms of Fantasy.

In 1995, Ackert co-founded “Voices in Harmony” with Christian Murphy and Melissa Fitzgerald. The non-profit organization works with at-risk teens using theater to improve their self-esteem.

In 2000, Ackert and Fitzgerald produced “Listen,” a documentary about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse for the high-school audience.

In 2007, Ackert was one of the producers of “After Kony: Staging Hope” a documentary that followed the Voices in Harmony program as it worked with war-torn teenagers in northern Uganda.

In February 2008, Ackert traveled to Washington, D.C. to with Resolve Uganda to lobby for peace in Northern Uganda on Capitol Hill.

He received a Masters in Psychology from the University of Santa Monica and was awarded “Difference Maker” by his undergrad alma mater, Ithaca College, in the school’s recognition of alumni who have made a meaningful impact through community service initiatives.

He is frequently quoted on his opinion of the importance of music and artists; most frequently, the quote is attributed to the LA Times despite the original source being Backstage West.
