David "Dave" Swift (July 27, 1919 – December 31, 2001) was an American screenwriter, animator, director, and producer. He is best known for writing the screenplay for the 1967 film, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Swift also worked as an animator and filmmaker at The Walt Disney Studio where he adapted the story of Pollyanna for the screen and wrote and directed The Parent Trap (1961).

David Swift était un employé de bureaux du studio Disney depuis les années 1930 qui est devenu assistant animateur aux côtés de Ward Kimball. Après avoir quitté le studio durant les années 1940 pour écrire des scénarios pour la télévision dont la série télévisée Mr. Peepers (1952-1955), Disney lui offre avec Pollyanna une chance de réaliser son premier long métrage.Le film Bon voyage ! In post-war London, aimless young married bisexual, Johnny, is sent to prison forcing him to entrust his beloved Alsatian dog, Evie, to the reluctant care of his down-trodden parents and older, middle-class former-lover and best friend, Frank. After a series of visits to Johnny's parents' home, Frank bonds with the dog whose mischievous spirit reminds him of his incarcerated friend. As it becomes apparent to Frank that Johnny's father is beating the dog, who is left for days on end in a small yard, a class war erupts over Evie's welfare, exacerbated by Johnny's manipulative and antagonistic wife Megan, whose sole aim is to claim Johnny back from Frank on his forthcoming release. A set of tragi-comic relationships evolve with the dog coming to represent the hold they have over each other.

In the Paris suburb of Petit-Clamart on 22 August 1962, an assassination attempt is made on the President of France General Charles de Gaulle by the militant French underground organisation OAS in anger over the French government granting independence to Algeria. As the president's motorcade passes, de Gaulle's unarmoured Citroën DS car is raked with machine gun fire, but the entire entourage escapes without injury.
