Diane Carol Baker (born February 25, 1938) is an American actress and producer who has appeared in motion pictures and on television since 1959.

Biography

Diane Baker est née et a grandi à Hollywood. Elle est la fille de Dorothy Helen Harrington et de Clyde L. Baker.

Après avoir étudié l'art dramatique à New York avec Charles E. Conrad et le ballet avec Nina Fonaroff, elle entame une carrière cinématographique avec la 20th Century Fox.

Elle débute notamment au cinéma dans le rôle de Margot Frank dans le film Le Journal d'Anne Frank réalisé par George Stevens. La même année, elle joue dans Voyage au centre de la Terre au côté de James Mason. Elle apparaît dans de nombreux autres films comme Pas de printemps pour Marnie avec Tippi Hedren et Sean Connery ou Mirage avec Gregory Peck et Walter Matthau mais aussi dans des séries télévisées comme Le Jeune Docteur Kildare, dans lequel elle tient un rôle récurrent de 1963 à 1966.

En 1966, Diane Baker apparaît dans les deux derniers épisodes de la série Le Fugitif puis l'année suivante dans le premier épisode de la série Les Envahisseurs. Puis, dans les années 70, elle figure dans trois épisodes de la série Mission impossible et dans un épisode de la saison 5 de Columbo (La Montre témoin).

Durant les années 2000, elle apparaît régulièrement dans la série Dr House, jouant la mère du personnage principal.

En plus de son métier d’actrice, elle est productrice pour le cinéma ou la télévision.

Telling the story of one of America’s most famous literary couples, the movie begins in 1936 when the pair meet for the first time in a Key West bar. They ran into each other again in Spain where they were both covering the Spanish Civil War. They were staying in the same hotel on the same floor, and she resisted his advances. In 1940 Hemingway divorced his second wife so that they could marry. Over time she became prominent in her own right. In 1945 she asked Hemingway for a divorce. He credits her with inspiring him to write the novel, For Whom the Bell Tolls.

An armored truck brings money to load an ATM. A woman withdraws $20 but the bill slips away. A homeless woman, Angeline (Linda Hunt), grabs the bill and reads the serial number, proclaiming that it is her destiny to win the lottery with those numbers. As she holds the bill, a boys grabs the bill from her and uses it at a bakery. The baker sells an expensive pair of figurines for a wedding cake to Jack Holiday (George Morfogen) and gives him the bill as change. At the rehearsal dinner for the upcoming wedding of Sam Mastrewski (Brendan Fraser) to Anna Holiday (Sam Jenkins), Jack reminisces about exchanging his foreign money for American currency when he first came to America, and he presents Sam with the $20 bill as a wedding present. Sam is taken aback by the perceived cheapness of his father-in-law-to-be, but is quickly "kidnapped" for his bachelor party, where he uses the bill to pay the stripper (Melora Walters). Anna shows up to explain that the $20 is not the entire present and suggests they frame it to show that they understand its significance. Sam is unable to explain the absence of the bill, when the stripper comes in from the fire escape to offer it back to him. Anna apparently breaks the engagement.
