Frank Sheridan (June 11,1869 – November 24, 1943) was an American actor of the silent and early sound film eras.

Born in Boston, he began acting later in life, at the age of 46, and had several leading roles. As time went on, he segued into the character actor role, and continued working right into his 70s. Although mostly in smaller roles, he continued to enjoy featured roles occasionally throughout the 1930s, as in his role of Sam Stubener in the 1936 film, Conflict, which starred John Wayne.

Sheridan and his wife Edna (née Carroll) Sheridan, had one child. Frank Sheridan died on November 24, 1943 in Hollywood, aged 74.

Biography

Entamant sa carrière au théâtre, il joue notamment à Broadway (New York) dans dix-neuf pièces, représentées entre 1897 et 1922. Mentionnons Plus que Reine d'Émile Bergerat (1900, avec Dustin Farnum et Joseph Kilgour), The Unwritten Law d'Edwin Milton Royle (1913, avec Frederick Burton) et Everyday de Rachel Crothers (1921-1922, avec Tallulah Bankhead et Henry Hull).

Au cinéma, il contribue à quinze films muets de 1915 à 1925, dont La Nuit mystérieuse de D. W. Griffith (1922, avec Carol Dempster et Henry Hull).

The famous Dr. Ernest Sovac's best friend, bookish college professor George Kingsley, is run down while crossing a street. In order to save his friend's life, Sovac implants part of another man's brain into the professor's. Unfortunately, the other man was a gangster who was involved in the accident. The professor recovers but at times behaves like the gangster, and his whole personality changes. Sovac is horrified but also intrigued, because the gangster has hidden $500,000 somewhere in the city. The doctor continues to treat his friend and, when the professor is under the influence of the gangster's brain, Karloff attempts to have the man lead him to the fortune. Béla Lugosi plays a gangster also trying to get his hands on the cash.
