Frederick Ried "Fred" Roos (born 1934) is an American film producer.
He started his career in television as a casting director for The Andy Griffith Show. Later, he went on to produce most of Francis Ford Coppola's films subsequent to The Godfather, including Apocalypse Now and Youth Without Youth. Roos won the Oscar for Best Film for producing The Godfather Part II.
In 2007, he was a member of the jury at the 29th Moscow International Film Festival.

Fred Roos was born on May 22, 1934 in Santa Monica, California, the son of Florence Mary (née Stout) and Victor Otto Roos.He started his career in television as a casting director for The Andy Griffith Show. Later, he went on to produce most of Francis Ford Coppola's films subsequent to The Godfather, including Apocalypse Now and Youth Without Youth. Roos won the Oscar for Best Film for producing The Godfather Part II.
In 2007, he was a member of the jury at the 29th Moscow International Film Festival.

The title is derived from the source material for Apocalypse Now, the Joseph Conrad novella Heart of Darkness. Using behind-the-scenes footage, and narrated by Eleanor Coppola, it chronicles how production problems including bad weather, actors' health and other issues delayed the film, increasing costs and nearly destroying the life and career of Francis Ford Coppola. In 1990, Eleanor Coppola turned her material over to two young filmmakers, George Hickenlooper and Fax Bahr (co-creator of MADtv), who then shot new interviews with the original cast and crew and intercut them with her existing material. After a year of editing, Hickenlooper, Bahr, and Coppola debuted their film at the 1991 Cannes Film Festival to universal critical acclaim.

As the film opens a black Ferrari circles on a race track in the desert, its engine roaring in and out of the shot. When it eventually stops, Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff) steps out. Marco is a Hollywood actor who, despite his recent rise to fame, does not feel much meaning in his daily life. He resides at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles from where he completes various publicity obligations for his new film: he is photographed with his co-star (Michelle Monaghan), gives interviews to the press, and attends an award ceremony in Italy.
