Biography
Nye was born in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Pennsylvania. He was noted for his striking appearance which consisted of dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. After many years of stage acting, he settled in Los Angeles where he lived with his father, U.S. Grant Nye, in the Sunset Junction section of the Silver Lake neighborhood of town according to the 1920 census reports. On October 3, 1929, at age 40, Nye walked into his apartment to find his father had committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. He also found an apology letter written by his father explaining that he was sorry for taking his own life and he couldn't "bear this physical condition." At 67 years old the elder Nye was suffering from the effects of three paralytic strokes.Nye would continue to appear in films until the 1950s.

New York private detective Duncan MacLain (Edward Arnold) is blind but has keenly developed all his other senses. In New York Harbor, Carl Denham, famous for making wildlife films in remote and exotic locations, charters Captain Englehorn's ship Venture for his new project, but he is unable to secure an actress for a female role he reluctantly added. Denham searches the streets of New York for a suitable woman. He meets penniless Ann Darrow and convinces her to join him for the adventure of a lifetime. The Venture quickly gets underway. The surly first mate, Jack Driscoll, gradually falls in love with Ann. After weeks of secrecy, Denham finally tells Englehorn and Driscoll that their destination is Skull Island, an uncharted island shown on a map in Denham's possession. Two cowboy friends, Jeff (J.
