He was the father of actor/producer Michael Macready and the grandfather of the gymnast John Macready.

Biography
An art collector, Macready was a partner with colleague Vincent Price in a Beverly Hills art gallery in the 1940s. The two friends later closed it as their acting careers developed. Macready died of emphysema in 1973 and had his body donated to a medical school.He was the father of actor/producer Michael Macready and the grandfather of the gymnast John Macready.

In 1941, the newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto (Sō Yamamura) and his predecessor, Zengo Yoshida (Junya Usami), discuss America's embargo that starves Japan of raw materials. The Great Leslie (Tony Curtis) and Professor Fate (Jack Lemmon) are competing daredevils at the turn of the 20th century. At the funeral of her husband Frank, wealthy widow Margaret DeLorca (Bette Davis), meets up with her twin sister, downcast Edith Phillips (also played by Davis), from whom she has been estranged for 18 years. The film opens in the 16th century, when Russia and Eastern Europe were divided into small sections and principalities that fought each other or against one enemy: in this case, Turkey. It starts with a battle raging between the Turks and the Poles. The Poles are losing until the Cossacks arrive to save the day.
