Glenn Tryon (August 2, 1898 – April 18, 1970) was an American film actor, screenwriter, director and producer. He appeared in 67 films between 1923 and 1951.

He was born in Juliaetta, Idaho and was married to actress Jane Frazee from 1942 to 1947. They had one son, Timothy Tryon. Glenn Tryon was also married to actress Lillian Hall (1896–1959). Tryon died on April 18, 1970 in Orlando, Florida.

Biography

À l'âge de 10 ans, Glenn Tryon jouait dans un théâtre ambulant.

En 1923, il participa à son premier film, Her Dangerous Path.

Il se fit ensuite remarquer par Hal Roach pour remplacer Harold Lloyd, ce qu'il ne parviendra jamais totalement à faire malgré la présence à ses côtés de Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy ou James Finlayson. Cet échec le réorientera vers des rôles différents face à des vedettes féminines du cinéma muet comme Patsy Ruth Miller, Janet Gaynor, Laura La Plante, Marian Nixon, Barbara Kent ou Merna Kennedy.

En 1929, il participe à son premier film parlant, Broadway.

Tardant à trouver le succès en tant qu'acteur, il se tourne vers la production et la réalisation à partir de 1932.

This Broadway revue is about two love affairs. Glenn Morgan revient du Mexique en compagnie de ses deux frères, Buddy et Jim, et d'un ami, Hugh Jeffries. Jeffries est très intéressé par le travail des Morgan sur un avion d'interception très rapide. Jim, l'aîné, est amoureux de Barbara Hawton, la fille de son patron le Colonel Hawton. Alors que Glenn est lui aussi amoureux d'elle, il feint l'indifférence pour ne pas gêner son frère. Juste avant de décoller avec un chargement de courrier, Jim propose à Barbara de l'épouser, mais elle repousse gentiment sa demande. Après son décollage, il est poursuivi par Jeffries, qui abat son avion et vole le courrier. Son corps n'ayant pas été retrouvé dans les débris de l'avion, Glenn est persuadé qu'il a été assassiné. Jeffries fait courir la rumeur que Jim se serait enfui avec le courrier, cela rend Glenn soupçonneux et il repart au Mexique pour enquêter sur le passé de Jeffries. Pendant ce temps, Jim a été recueilli par un vieux chercheur d'or. Lorsque Jeffries apprend que Jim est toujours en vie, il envoie un de ses acolytes bombarder la cabane du prospecteur, mais Jim et son sauveur arrivent à se réfugier dans la mine. Glenn est revenu du Mexique sans preuve contre Jeffries, alors il décide de lui tendre un piège. Buddy fait croire à Jeffries qu'il va transporter beaucoup d'argent lors de son prochain vol, et Glenn les suit avec le nouvel avion. Après avoir abattu Jeffries, il atterrit et retrouve Jim. Glenn demande en mariage Barbara, qui accepte, et Jim demande à être son témoin.

Roy Lane and Billie Moore, entertainers at the Paradise Nightclub, are in love and are rehearsing an act together. Late to work one evening, Billie is saved from dismissal by Nick Verdis, the club proprietor, through the intervention of Steve Crandall, a bootlegger, who desires a liaison with the girl. "Scar" Edwards, robbed of a truckload of contraband liquor by Steve's gang, arrives at the club for a showdown with Steve and is shot in the back. Steve gives Billie a bracelet to forget that she has seen him helping a "drunk" from the club. Though Roy is arrested by Dan McCorn, he is later released on Billie's testimony. Nick is murdered by Steve. Billie witnesses the killing, but keeps quiet about the dirty business until she finds out Steve's next target is Roy. Billie is determined to tell her story to the police before Roy winds up dead, but Steve isn't about to let that happen and kidnaps her. Steve, in his car, is fired at from a taxi, and overheard by Pearl, he confesses to killing Edwards. Pearl confronts Steve in Nick's office and kills him; and McCorn, finding Steve's body, insists that he committed suicide, exonerating Pearl and leaving Roy and Billie to the success of their act.
