The wreck of the supertanker Exxon Valdez in Prince William Sound, Alaska, on March 24, 1989 was one of the most devastating ecological disasters in recent history. Immediately after the ship ran aground and began spilling over 11 million US gallons (42,000 m) of suffocating oil from its ruptured hold, experts were sent out to assess the damage and clean up the mess. This docudrama tells their story. Much centers on the conflict between local officials, the fishing industry, and the Exxon official sent out to oversee the clean-up and take the rap. The filmmakers point out that much of the aftermath could have been minimized had the officials in charge been better prepared and not spent so much time involved in useless red-tape and petty bureaucratic bickering. Most of the film was shot in Vancouver, Richmond and Steveston, British Columbia, but it also utilizes archival film clips of the actual disaster and cleanup efforts.

On November 5, 1699, Gulliver (voiced by Sam Parker) washes onto Lilliput, after a shipwreck. While scouting the forest, the town crier 'Gabby' (voiced by Pinto Colvig), finds Gulliver unconscious body and rushes to warn the ruler of Lilliput, King Little (voiced by Jack Mercer). In 1974, Raggedy Ann is the beloved doll of Marcella, along with her brother Raggedy Andy and a whole nursery full of colorful toys. Whenever Marcella leaves the room, the dolls come to life. On Marcella's seventh birthday, a new doll named Babette, arrives from Paris, France to New Hampshire. Babette is a spoiled girl who is unaware she is a doll, but the friendly Raggedy Ann does everything she can to make Babette feel at home. Soon, however, the Captain Contagious, who lives in Marcella's snow globe, becomes smitten with Babette and kidnaps her. Raggedy Ann and Andy set off to try to rescue her before Marcella discovers Babette is gone. Out in the world outside the nursery, the two meet the Camel with the Wrinkled Knees, a blue toy camel who has been cast off by past owners and is now heartbroken and lonely. Raggedy Ann assures him a home with Marcella, and he joins their rescue party.

The film begins with a nursery book that opens by itself. Mother Goose appears on the title of the Leo the Lion from the MGM title cards. Underneath the goose is written, in Pig Latin, "Nertz to You". The opening disclaimer states that "any resemblance to characters herein portrayed to persons living or dead, is purely coincidental." Little Bo Peep (Katharine Hepburn) claims she "lost her sheep, really I have". After performing a few ballet steps she looks behind the next page of the book, which is turned around.

Mickey Mouse is participating in a polo game, with a team that includes Goofy, the Big Bad Wolf, and Donald Duck, who is having trouble with his donkey. They are playing against Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Harpo Marx, and Charlie Chaplin. Jack Holt throws the ball, which begins the game. First out is Oliver, who is knocked off his horse when the two teams fight to get the ball from the other. He is hit on the head with horseshoes while on the ground. The Big Bad Wolf takes the ball and manages to keep it ahead of the others but Charlie Chaplin soon steals the ball and hits it into one of the poles, using his cane to turn himself around to go in the other direction and keep up with the team. Meanwhile, Ollie is struggling to get back on his horse because of his overweight body. As Mickey hits the ball toward his home goal, Harpo Marx and his ostrich are forced to duck under the sand to avoid being hit. Ollie is finally able to get onto his horse but his weight causes the horse's body to sag in the middle.

Mickey, Donald et Pluto sont partis dans les Alpes faire de l'alpinisme. Mickey vêtu comme un tyrolien est en tête de la cordée, chantant en yodel et grimpant avec son piolet une paroi verticale. Donald vient ensuite, vêtu de vert avec une plume rouge sur son chapeau mais avec sa voix nasillarde, la chanson est très altérée. Pluto est accroché au bout de la corde. Il profite pour découvrir la montagne, ses fleurs et le vide. Arrivé à une corniche, Mickey accroche Pluto à un rocher. De son côté, Donald cueille des edelweiss et tombe sur un jeune bouquetin qui mange les fleurs, ce qui le rend furieux. Mickey quant à lui trouve un nid et en prend les œufs dans l'espoir de les manger. Mais le busard femelle le surprend et l'attaque. Mickey lance sur la mère les œufs, qui éclosent en vol. Pluto reçoit sur la tête un des œufs et se bat ensuite avec l'oisillon nouveau-né. Pluto tombe de la corniche et se retrouve enseveli sous la neige. Un Saint-bernard, tonneau d'alcool accroché à son collier, sort de sa niche surmontée d'une croix-rouge et part déterrer Pluto, bleu de froid. Le malheureux chien reçoit de l'alcool pour se réchauffer mais devient ivre et tente d'avoir encore du breuvage.
