Gwendoline See-Hian Yeo (simplified Chinese: 杨时贤; traditional Chinese: 楊時賢; pinyin: Yáng Shíxián; born July 10, 1977) is a Singaporean-born American actress, and musician, best known for her recurring guest-star role as Xiao-Mei in the hit television series Desperate Housewives, and as Dr. Kelly Lee in General Hospital.

Biography

Early life
Born in Singapore, Yeo is the niece of George Yeo, former Singaporean Minister for Foreign Affairs. She moved to California as a teenager, graduating (with honors) from St. Ignatius College Preparatory in 1994. Yeo received her BA from UCLA before the age of 20, graduating summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa as well as receiving a diploma in Classical Piano from the esteemed San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Her love of music led her to specialize in playing the traditional Chinese instrument, guzheng, which culminated in a one-woman radio show on NPR-KCRW. It also included the debut of her first two zither/vocal tracks "Kiss My Grits" and "Lovers." Yeo was crowned Miss Asian America in 1995 and was also named Miss Chinatown USA in 1998-1999. These led her to hosting and commercials, and from there her television and film careers blossomed.


Career
Yeo played Xiao-Mei, the Chinese maid of Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) and Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) in Desperate Housewives, and Dr. Kelly Lee in General Hospital. Her other past appearances include television series 24, JAG, NYPD Blue and The O.C.. Yeo also guest starred in an episode of Hannah Montana and Chuck. Yeo is the voice actress of Paine in Final Fantasy X-2 and Kingdom Hearts II. She also voices Lady Deathstrike in X-Men: Next Dimension, Mercy Graves in The Batman, Li-en in Zatch Bell!, and Lieutenant Keiko Tanaka in an episode of What's New, Scooby Doo?. She has also appeared in the films Night Skies, and The Perfect Girl. In the film Broken Trail, Yeo played "Sun Foy" and was called "number three" by Robert Duvall's character. In 2007, she played Dr. Samantha Yep in The Jane Austen Book Club.

After the death of his protégé Jason Todd, billionaire industrialist Bruce Wayne was forced to retire from his Batman persona. On their wedding day, Marcus (Marcus Patrick) and Vivian (Cherie Johnson) are in a car crash, and Vivian is hospitalized in an apparently irreversible coma. Set three years before the first film, the action takes place in and around the Meadow View Inn, a small roadside motel in rural North Carolina. It opens with newlyweds driving and the bride wants to have sex in the car, which makes the groom stop. They are then stopped by a man, whose property they are on. The manager, Gordon (David Moscow), oversees an operation of using cameras within the motel to videotape the newlyweds having oral sex. Later, a serial killer (Scott G. Anderson), who checks into the motel as Smith brutally murders a woman he brought with him in one of the motel rooms. The horrified staff see the whole crime on videotape and then subdue the man. They, however, do not know what to do with him as they will endanger their operation if they call the police. Smith manages to convince Gordon and his staff to hire him to torture and murder the motel guests on videotape and then sell them as snuff films.
