Hans-Martin Majewski (né le 14 janvier 1911 à Schlawe, mort le 1er janvier 1997 à Bötersen) est un compositeur allemand de musique de films.

Biography

Après avoir arrêté des études de médecine, Majewski s'inscrit au conservatoire de Leipzig où il a comme professeur Robert Teichmüller (clavier), Bruno Walter (orchestre) ou Kurt Thomas (chœur). Il va à Berlin et devient le chef d'orchestre et répétiteur du Theater des Volkes . En 1938, Majewski compose Insel der Träume , sa première opérette. L'année suivante, le réalisateur Arthur Maria Rabenalt l'engage pour son film Flucht ins Dunkel . Il doit arrêter sa carrière de musicien lorsqu'il est convoqué pour participer à la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Après la Guerre, Majewski s'installe à Hambourg et reprend la composition. Il écrit pour des pièces radiophoniques et des chansons pour des cabarets.

En 1948, Wolfgang Liebeneiner fait appel à lui pour Liebe 47, une adaptation de la pièce Dehors devant la porte de Wolfgang Borchert. Par la suite, Majewski collabore avec d'autres compositeurs, Peter Sandloff et Martin Böttcher.

Jusque dans les années 1980, Majewski écrira la musique de deux cents longs métrages et téléfilms, de nombreux documentaires et films industriels, ainsi qu'une centaine de pièces radiophoniques et quatre-vingts musiques de spectacles comiques et de pièces de théâtre. L'étendue de ses compositions va de la musique classique au jazz et à la pop. Il est l'un des compositeurs de cinéma les plus polyvalents et les plus demandés en Allemagne. Il fait don de ses archives au Festspielhaus Hellerau de Dresde.

Renate, mineure, entretient une relation avec Jochen Rehbert, plus âgé qu'elle. The story takes place in East Berlin soon after the Berlin Wall is built, and is based on an actual escape on January 28, 1962. Kurt Schröder is a chauffeur to East German Major Eckhardt and his seductive wife Heidi, and lives within sight of the Wall. Kurt is having an affair with Heidi. One night he sees a friend, Günther Jurgens, who works at the garage where Kurt has the Major's car maintained, drive his truck into the wall, and get killed trying to escape to the west. Günther's sister, Erika, comes looking for Günther when he doesn't return, and is told that Kurt saw him last night. She then goes to Kurt's house, where he lives with his mother, Uncle Albrecht (a musician), sister Ingeborg and kid brother Helmut. Erika is intent on escaping to West Berlin, thinking that her brother made it. Kurt, reasonably satisfied with his life, has no intention of risking his life to attempt an escape. Erika then looks out beyond the barbed wire, but Kurt catches her as she tries to crawl under, and they pretend to be lovers to hide her intentions from suspicious guards. Kurt then hides her in his house. A piece of Erika's clothing is caught in the barbed wire, and the guards track her to the Schröder's house. She hides in a room without a floor, and narrowly escapes the guards after they conclude that she could not be in the room.

Next to a church in a prosperous German industrial town is the Eden bar, a night club and brothel. The Eden bar is a thorn in the side of the worldly innocent monk Father Malachia (Horst Bollmann), who is praying to God that he will close the bar. The prayer is heard and the building and the bar and all people inside vanish and reappear on an island in the North Sea. This apparent miracle draws the attention of the media, politicians and scientists, all trying to find rational explanations. The Catholic Church is reluctant to officially recognize this occurrence as a miracle, both fearing a loss of control in matters of faith, or a loss of face if the disappareance of the Eden bar would turn out to be a fabrication.

In the closing days of World War II, a small German town comes into focus as American forces advance in its direction.
